rePete integrates directly with Klaviyo in two ways. You can sync rePete events to Klaviyo to build smarter segments and avoid overlapping messages, or you can use Klaviyo as your primary sending channel and manage all rePete messaging from within your Klaviyo flows. Both options can be enabled independently or together.
Note: This article explains how the direct Klaviyo integration works. If you prefer to connect to Klaviyo using Shopify Flow, please visit Shopify Flow & rePete.
How it works
Sync rePete events to Klaviyo
When this option is enabled, rePete automatically sends nudge and order activity to Klaviyo as custom metrics. You can use these events to trigger flows, build segments, or exclude customers who have already received a rePete nudge from other campaigns.
rePete continues to send its own nudge messages when this setting is enabled. The events are intended to help you coordinate messaging across both platforms and avoid sending duplicate communications to the same customer.
Use Klaviyo as your email and SMS channel
When this option is enabled, rePete sends all nudge events to Klaviyo and stops sending its own messages. All rePete messaging is then handled through flows you create within Klaviyo.
This option is designed for merchants who want Klaviyo to be the single sending platform for all customer communications, including reorder nudges.
Available events
When either setting is enabled, the following events are sent to Klaviyo as custom metrics:
Event | Data included | When it's used |
rePete Notification | Reorder link | Sent when rePete determines it's time for a customer to reorder. Use this as the trigger for your Klaviyo flow when Klaviyo is your sending channel. |
rePete Nudge Sent | Time, customer, nudge type (email or SMS) | Sent when rePete sends a nudge. Use this for segmentation or to suppress customers from other campaigns. |
rePete Order Placed | Time, customer, products, order total | Sent when a customer places a rePete order. Use this to trigger post-purchase flows or update segments. |
Important considerations
When Sync rePete events to Klaviyo is enabled without Klaviyo as a channel, rePete will continue sending its own nudge messages. Use the rePete Nudge Sent event in Klaviyo to suppress or exclude customers from overlapping campaigns.
When Use Klaviyo as my email and SMS channel is enabled, rePete will not send any nudge messages. You are responsible for building and activating flows in Klaviyo to handle all rePete messaging.
Both settings can be enabled at the same time.
Setup
Step 1: Create a Klaviyo API key
In your Klaviyo account, navigate to Account Settings and select API Keys.
Create a new private API key and give it a name.
Under custom access options, set Events to Full Access.
Save and copy the API key.
For help navigating Klaviyo account settings, refer to Klaviyo's API key documentation.
Step 2: Connect Klaviyo in rePete
In the rePete admin, navigate to the Integrations page.
Find the Klaviyo integration and enter your API key in the Configuration field.
Save to connect your Klaviyo account.
Step 3: Enable your preferred settings
Once connected, you will see the following toggles under Settings:
Sync rePete nudge and order events to Klaviyo — Automatically pushes nudge-sent and order-placed activity to Klaviyo as custom metrics. Enable this if you want to use rePete events in Klaviyo flows or segments.
Use Klaviyo as my email and SMS channel — rePete will send events to Klaviyo and stop sending its own nudge messages. Enable this if you want Klaviyo to handle all rePete messaging.
Enable the toggles that match how you want to use the integration.
Step 4: Set up your Klaviyo flows
If you have enabled Use Klaviyo as my email and SMS channel, you will need to create a flow in Klaviyo triggered by the rePete Notification event. You are responsible for building the messaging yourself — including the email template, copy, and design.
When rePete determines it's time for a customer to reorder based on its algorithm, it sends a rePete Notification event to Klaviyo. You use this event as the trigger for your flow, so that your messaging goes out at the right time without you having to manage the timing manually.
To get started:
In Klaviyo, navigate to Flows and create a new flow.
Set rePete Notification as the trigger.
Build your email or SMS template with your own messaging and design.
To include a reorder link in your template, use the following variable as your button or CTA URL:
{{event.order_link}}
Note: rePete does not generate or send message content when Klaviyo is used as a channel. Your Klaviyo flow and template are responsible for all customer-facing messaging.
Using rePete events for segmentation
If you have enabled Sync rePete nudge and order events to Klaviyo, you can use the rePete Nudge Sent and rePete Order Placed events to build segments in Klaviyo. A common use case is creating a segment of customers who have recently received a rePete nudge, so you can exclude them from other Klaviyo campaigns and avoid over-messaging.
Create a rePete nudge segment
In Klaviyo, navigate to Audiences and select Lists & Segments.
Click Create and select New Segment to create a dynamic list.
Under conditions, select What someone has done (or not done).
In the Person has field, select the rePete event you want to use — rePete Nudge Sent or rePete Order Placed.
Set your preferred time frame for the segment.
Click Create Segment.
Once your segment is created, you can select it as an exclusion list when building flows or campaigns in Klaviyo to ensure customers who have already received a rePete nudge are not messaged again within that window.
