rePete includes two reporting pages that give you visibility into your repeat purchase performance. This article explains what each page shows and how to read the numbers.
The two dashboard pages
rePete has two reporting views, each answering a different question:
Page | The question it answers |
rePete Dashboard | What did rePete do for my store? |
Shopify Store Analytics | How strong is my store's repeat business overall? |
Both pages use the same date range and are powered by your own Shopify analytics data available via ShopifyQL. You can navigate between them using the links near the top of each page.
Setting your date range
The date selector (top right of each page) controls every number, chart, and comparison on the page. Options include Last 7 / 30 / 90 / 365 Days, or a custom range.
Pro Tip: Repeat purchase behaviour is slow by nature. If your customers typically reorder every 6 weeks, view your data over at least 90 days for a more accurate picture.
Page 1: rePete Dashboard
This page shows the direct impact of rePete's nudges and cross-sell activity on your store.
The Insights card
At the top of the page, rePete's Insights displays up to four plain-language summaries of your results. These only appear when there is something meaningful to report - a real revenue figure or growth above a meaningful threshold. If no insights are shown, it means the data for the selected period isn't strong enough yet, or there is no prior period to compare against. From the insights card you can click the “learn more about your store’s repeat business metrics” button which will take you to the Store Analytics Page.
Top row: scale metrics
Metric | What it means |
rePete's Revenue | All revenue attributed to rePete in the selected period |
rePete's Customers | Number of unique customers who placed an order attributed to rePete in the period |
rePete's Orders | Number of orders attributed to rePete in the period |
% Orders w/ Cross-Sell | Percentage of rePete’s orders that included a cross-sell or upsell in the period |
Second row: efficiency metrics
Metric | What it means |
rePete's Revenue % | rePete's share of your total repeat revenue, excluding subscriptions |
rePete's Customers % | rePete's share of your total returning customers, excluding subscriptions |
rePete's Orders/Customer | Average number of rePete orders per customer in the period |
rePete's Revenue/Customer | Average revenue per customer attributed to rePete in the period |
rePete's Trend Over Time chart
This chart plots daily activity for the selected period. Use the toggle to switch between rePete’s Revenue, Orders, and Customers. Look for the overall shape of the trend rather than individual days. Today is not plotted by default, since a partial day would appear as a drop.
rePete's Product Sales by Type chart
This chart breaks down attributed sales into three categories:
Type | What it means |
Direct Sales | The customer ordered within 24 hours of a rePete nudge |
Assisted Sales | The customer ordered within 7 days of a rePete nudge |
Upsells & Cross-sells | Additional items surfaced by rePete alongside the reorder |
Note: The total shown in this chart may be lower than rePete's Revenue total shown in the metric cards. The metric cards pull revenue data directly from Shopify, while the Product Sales chart reflects merchandise value tracked internally by rePete.
Page 2: Shopify Store Analytics
This page shows your store's overall repeat purchase performance, including all orders - not just those attributed to rePete. Subscriptions, organic returns, and rePete-driven orders are all included unless noted.
Top row: size metrics
Metric | What it means |
Repeat Revenue | Revenue from repeat orders placed by returning customers in the period |
Repeat Customers | Number of unique customers who have ordered before and returned to place a repeat order during the period. |
Repeat Orders | Number of orders placed by returning customers in the period |
Subscriptions Revenue | Revenue from subscription orders in the period |
Second row: quality metrics
Metric | What it means |
Repeat Revenue % | Percentage of total revenue that came from repeat orders |
Repeat Customer Rate | Percentage of customers who have ordered before and came back to order again |
Repeat Orders/Customer | Average number of repeat orders per returning customer |
Repeat Revenue/Customer | Average repeat revenue per returning customer |
Useful benchmarks:
A Repeat Customer Rate above 40% indicates strong retention.
Repeat Revenue above 30% of total revenue is a strong mix.
Repeat Revenue below 15% of total revenue suggests most growth is coming from new customer acquisition.
First-Time & Repeat Orders chart
This stacked bar chart shows your order mix, broken down into first-time and repeat orders. It also shows rePete's contribution and subscription orders as separate bars, so you can see how each segment contributes to your overall volume.
Overall Orders, Customers & Revenue table
This table shows your new and repeat customers side by side in orders, customers, and revenue, along with each segment's share of the total. This shows how much of your business is repeat business.
Note: A customer can appear in both the New and Repeat rows if they placed their first order and came back again within the same date range. The page will flag how many customers this applies to.
Understanding comparison chips
Below each metric, you may see comparison chips showing how the current period compares to a prior one.
What you see | What it means |
Green +18% | Up vs. the comparison period |
Red -12% | Down vs. the comparison period |
Grey 0% | Essentially flat |
No Historical Data | No comparable prior period available |
Use vs. Previous Year for anything seasonal. Use vs. Previous Period for recent changes. When they disagree, the yearly comparison is usually the more reliable view.
Key terms
Term | Definition |
Repeat customer | A returning customer who has ordered before and came back for another order |
Repeat order | Every order after a customer's first |
rePete order | An order attributed to rePete. rePete tags these in Shopify, so "rePete's" metrics count only these orders |
Direct sale | rePete nudges a customer to reorder a product and they complete the purchase within 24 hours. |
Assisted sale | rePete nudges a customer to reorder a product and they complete the purchase after 24 hours but within 7 days. |
Upsell / cross-sell | Extra items a customer adds to their cart beyond the initial reorder product. |
FAQs
Why might rePete's average order value look lower than my store average?
rePete orders come from customers who may not have returned otherwise. Comparing rePete orders against your store average isn't the most useful lens - the more relevant comparison is against no order at all.
Why don't these numbers exactly match my standard Shopify reports?
Both dashboards use your Shopify analytics data, but with specific filters applied. rePete's metrics count only rePete-tagged orders. Some cards also exclude subscriptions from the denominator so comparisons are more meaningful. Revenue figures follow Shopify's Total Sales definition, which includes taxes, shipping, and fees. Refunds are recorded on the date they are processed.
Why does "No Historical Data" appear?
There is no usable prior period to compare against. This is common on new installs or after a period with no activity.
Why do New and Repeat customer counts add up to more than my total?
A customer counts in both groups if they placed their first order and came back again within the same date range. The page will flag when this is the case.
Why haven't my numbers updated after changing the date range?
Results are cached for up to one hour to keep the dashboard fast. Wait a few minutes, or select a slightly different range.
