Set up Sales Tax Settings in QuickBooks Online

Before you connect your QuickBooks Online account with Shopify, you need to set up the required sales tax settings in your QuickBooks Online dashboard.

Note: Our QuickBooks Integration app requires that you enable taxes and choose a tax or tax agency in QuickBooks Online, even if you are not actively charging tax through your Shopify store.

To set up the required tax settings in QuickBooks Online, please follow these steps:

  1. Log in to QuickBooks Online.
  2. Select Taxes.

  3. Select Edit sales tax settings.

  4. Under "Do you charge sales tax?", select Yes.

  5. Select Save.

    Note: If your QuickBooks Online account is registered in the U.S., you can set up the QuickBooks Online app in Shopify. If your QuickBooks Online account is registered in Canada, Australia, or the United Kingdom, you may need to Add Tax Rate Manually in QuickBooks Online.
