Bold Upsell is a versatile eCommerce app that allows you to offer additional products to your customers, based on their interaction with your site.
You can offer them additional items when they add products to their cart, go to checkout from the site, or after they've completed their purchase.
To set up Upsell, please follow these steps:
Upsell is designed to work "out of the box" with most Shopify themes. However, there may be some instances where an additional piece of code needs to be added to your theme for the app to work correctly.
This generally occurs on themes that have a pop-up or slide out cart, or when a customer stays on the same page after adding an item to their cart.
Visit Ajax Verification Process for Bold Upsell for more information on how to confirm if your theme requires an additional installation.
If the app is not functioning correctly on your storefront, there's a couple of ways to fix the issue:
- Request a Bold Upsell Installation - There's a small piece of coding that our team can insert within your theme. This allows Upsell to work correctly with the Ajax functions on your site. Because of the complexity and variation of the coding installation, we generally prefer to handle these installs on our side.
Visit Request a Bold Upsell Installation for more information on how to request assistance.
- Disable the Ajax Add to Cart Functionality in the Theme - Upsell will work correctly if your theme is not using any type of Ajax functions. Most themes have a way to disable their Ajax functionalities when you go to customize the layout.
Visit Disable the Ajax Add to Cart Functionality in the Theme for more information on how to disable this in your theme settings.
Upsell allows you to create two main types of offers on your site; upsells and cross-sells.
Upsell offers will take the product that a customer is adding to their cart, and replace it with the one they select in the window. For example: A customer goes to purchase a 2lb. bag of coffee and you upsell them with a 5lb. bag.
Cross-sell offers will add each of the products that your customers select in the window. For example: a customer goes to purchase a 2lb. bag of coffee and you offer them a box of filters, a coffee mug, etc.
Please visit the following links to learn more about how to create each of these offers:

Upsell has a fully customizable widget that displays on your storefront whenever an offer is triggered. By default, the app will attempt to pull the theme styling your site is already using but there may be a few tweaks needed to fully match your store's appearance. You're able to change the window's colors, borders, font sizes, etc.
Visit Basic CSS Styling for Bold Upsell for more information on how to style the window.
The app will track several stats that relate to each of your offers. You're able to use this information to compare offers that may or may not be performing well on the site.
Upsell will record each of your offers' views, add to carts, conversions, and total revenue.
Visit Bold Upsell's Dashboard Metrics for more information on the app's stats tracking.
Upsell offers a few different plan tiers to fit your store's budget; while allowing you to grow your site accordingly.
The plan costs are based on the number of views your offers are receiving monthly, and you can upgrade or downgrade at any time.
Visit Bold Upsell Plan Information & Pricing for more information on the plan tiers.
Upsell allows you to offer additional sets of product offerings after the initial one has been presented.
You can create flows for when a customer has accepted and/or declined the previous offer. You're able to offer up to 3 additional sets of products in a single funnel offer.
