Set up Options and Relationships with Product Options

In Product Options 2.0, there is a new way to set up your options and assign them to your products. If you are still using Options 1.0, visit Set up Options in Product Options 1.0 for instructions.

To set up options and relationships in Options, please follow these steps:

  1. From Shopify's admin, select Apps.

    Select the Apps option on the left-hand side of your Shopify admin

  2. Select Product Options by Bold.

  3. Select Options.

    From the Product Options navigation bar, select Options

  4. Select Create Option Set.

    On the right-hand side, select the Create Option Set button

  5. Enter an Option Set Name.

    In the first text box, enter in an internal Option Set name

  6. Choose Select Products.

    On the left-hand side, choose Select Products

  7. Select Products or Dynamic List.

    Note: Product Options uses an advanced version of the product selector to choose your items. Visit Navigating the Product Selector for more information on how to use this selector.

  8. Select either the products, or the conditions of your dynamic list.

    Note: Selecting "Products" in the previous step will have you choose each item you want to associate this option set with. Selecting "Dynamic List" will have you choose a more refined list of items using the conditions.

  9. Select Save Selection.

    In the bottom-right corner, choose Save Selection

  10. Select Create new option.

    Note: If this option already exists within Shopify, it's a great time-saving feature to choose Pick from existing, select an option that has already been created, and select Use Option here instead.

    On the left-hand side of the Options screen, select Create New Option, or Pick From Existing on the right-hand side

  11. Enter a Name.

    On the top-left, enter a name for your Option that customers will see (exapmle: Size)

  12. Select a Type.

    On the top-right, choose an option type from the dropdown menu (example: dropdown)

  13. Enter System Name.

    On the bottom-left, enter in a system name - or internal name for your own reference (example: ladies clothing sizes)

  14. Enter Help Text.

    On the bottom-right, enter in help text that customers will see, telling them what to choose (example: choose a shirt size)

  15. Enter Values.

    Continue adding values until you are satisifed (example: small, medium, large)

    • Select Selected if you would like that value to be selected by default (optional).

      On the right-hand side of the value, check the Selected checkbox if you want it to be selected by default

    • Select Adjust price if you would like that value to be a different price (optional).

      Note: This is a Premium feature. Visit Create Priced Options with Product Options for more information on how to create priced options.

      On the left-hand side underneath the value, choose the Adjusts Price checkbox if you want there to be an additional charge associated with that option

    • Select Create a Charge or Use an existing variant in your shop (optional).

      If adding a price, select Create a Charge or select use an existing variant in your shop

    • Enter a Dollar Amount ($) or select Select Variant and repeat steps 7 and 8 (optional).

      On the right-hand side, enter a dollar amount for the additional charge, or select your product variant

    • Under "How do you want to handle quantities?", select a value (optional).

      Note: Visit What do the "How do you want to handle quantities" options mean? for a detailed explanation of these options.

      From the drop-down menu, select how you want to handle quantities

  16. Repeat steps 10 - 15 until you have created all options in the option set.

  17. Select Save.

    In the bottom-right corner, select Save

  18. Select Save Option Set.
