Google Analytics - eCommerce Integration

By default, Bold Subscriptions will track three different events during the checkout process, but if you'd like to record more information when a successful order is placed, all you need to do is enable basic or enhanced eCommerce settings.

Before following these steps, ensure that your Google Analytics ID has been entered under the Google Analytics integration tab.

Visit the Google Analytics and Advanced Tracking Scripts article for detailed instructions if needed.

To enable this, please follow these steps:

  1. From Shopify's admin, select Apps.

  2. Select Recurring Orders & Subscriptions by Bold.

  3. Select Settings.

  4. Select Integrations.

    Note: If you have any pre-existing eCommerce tracking scripts you will need to remove them from "Advanced Tracking Scripts" before proceeding.

  5. Select Google Analytics.

  6. Under "Google Analytics Tracking ID", enter your Tracking ID.

  7. Select Enable Ecommerce Tracking.

  8. Select Enable Enhanced Ecommerce.

  9. Select Save.

  10. Log into your Google Analytics Account.

  11. Select ADMIN.

  13. Set "Enable Ecommerce" to ON.

  15. Set "Enhanced Ecommerce Settings" to ON.

  16. Select Add funnel step.

  17. For the "Checkout labeling funnel steps" enter RO - Enter Shipping Address.

  18. Select Done.

  20. For the "Checkout labeling funnel steps" enter RO - Enter Payment Information.

  21. Select Done.

  23. For the "Checkout labeling funnel steps" enter RO - Purchase Complete.

  25. Select Submit.

That's it!

Once you've made these changes, all initial subscription orders should be recorded in your eCommerce Reports.

In Google Analytics your eCommerce data is found under Conversions -> eCommerce on the left navigation.

With enhanced eCommerce settings you are tracking the following transaction data:

  • Shopify domain
  • Order number
  • Order total
  • Tax total
  • Shipping total
  • Transaction discount code
  • Product IDs, titles, quantities, prices, types, vendors, discount codes applied, and variant titles

Also, you are tracking these checkout steps which can be used to create an eCommerce checkout funnel:

  • Step 1 - Enter Shipping Address
  • Step 2 - Enter Payment Information
  • Step 3 - Purchase Complete

Before inserting this script, ensure that your Google Analytics ID has been added to the Google Analytics integration tab. Visit the Google Analytics and Advanced Tracking Scripts article for detailed instructions.

That's it!

Once you've made these changes, all initial subscription orders should be recorded in your eCommerce Reports.
