Use Inventory or SKUs with Priced Options

Overview

Using Product Options version 2.0, you can use inventory or SKUs with your priced options. You'll first need to create your priced options.

Note: Ensure you enter a price in this step; it can be set to zero later.

You can use inventory or SKUs with Product Options 2.0 premium by following these steps:

  1. From Shopify's admin, select Apps.

    Select the Apps option on the left-hand side of your Shopify admin

  2. Select Product Options by Bold.

    Select Product Options by Bold from your list of apps

  3. Select Options.

    From the Product Options navigation bar, select Options

  4. Select Edit next to the option set you'd like to adjust. 

    Next to the option you'd like to adjust, select edit on the right-hand side

  5. Select Edit next to the option that has an additional charge associated.

    Next to the option with a charge, select edit on the right-hand side

  6. Select View in store to edit.

    Near the middle, underneath Select Variant, click on View in store to edit

  7. Scroll down to "Variants" and enter a SKU in the appropriate field (repeat for each SKU).

    There are three horizontal text boxes; title, price, and SKU. Within the SKU textbox, enter your SKU

  8. Select Save.

    At the bottom-right of the screen, select Save

  9. Within Product Options, repeat steps 5 - 9 for each option you would like to add a SKU to.

  10. Select Settings (optional).

    Note: If you want to allow the customer to purchase without inventory tracking, you can skip steps 11 - 14.

    From the Product Options navigation bar, select Settings

  11. Select Display Settings (optional).

    Select the first option in the Settings menu, which is Display Settings

  12. Select Enable inventory checking (optional).

    In the seventh section from the top called Inventory Checking, select the Enable Inventory Checking checkbox

  13. Select Save.

    In the bottom-right corner, select Save

Limitations of Inventory Tracking:

  • If you link an existing variant to an option, it will always charge the same amount that the variant costs in Shopify.
  • You are not able to link an already-existing variant to track inventory on an option and change the price for the option. If you wanted to track inventory on an already-existing variant but have a different price than the product, you would have to create a new variant with the price you are wanting and track inventory on it.
