No, it's one or the other. If the customer makes a regular (one-time) purchase, and it goes through Shopify's checkout, then only Shopify's transaction fees apply.
If the customer makes a subscription purchase, it goes through our separate recurring checkout and only the Recurring Orders transaction fees apply.
There are no added fees or hidden costs with Recurring Orders.
Shopify may charge an extra fee (0.5 to 2%) for transactions through Shopify's checkout if you are not using Shopify Payments and not on a Shopify Plus plan. Orders processed through the Recurring Orders app would not be charged this fee.
Recurring Orders now offers lower pricing for valued Shopify Plus merchants.
Instead of the standard 1% transaction fee, we now offer a .75% transaction fee for any registered Shopify Plus store! Email our Recurring Orders Team, and after a quick verification, we'll put this in place for you.

With Stripe, this fee is taken off before your revenue is deposited into your bank account. This means the revenue you receive every month is after all fees have been taken off.
BrainTree (and all other Supported Payment Gateways) unfortunately doesn’t support that fee structure. In order to integrate our 1% fee into these other payment gateways, we must charge our 1% fee (based on your revenue) after your revenue has already been deposited into your account. We do this with a weekly charge to your credit card.
When enabling any other payment gateway, aside from Stripe, within Recurring Orders, we require you to enter a credit card which will be used for the 1% transaction fee.
We charge this 1% fee every week unless the total value of your 1% fee is less than $100 in which case we will delay the charge until you reach that amount.
Ron’s store has 1000 weekly subscribers at a total of $10 per subscriber. His total weekly revenue would be $10,000.
Taking this sales figure into account, Ron would be charged a 1% fee of $100 every week which would be charged to his credit card.
If Ron lost a few subscribers and now has a total of 800 weekly subscribers.
His weekly revenue would now be $8,000 and 1% of that would be $80, Ron wouldn’t get charged that week. Instead, he would be charged $160 the following week, when his total fee surpassed $100, provided he didn’t lose or gain any subscribers.
If your credit card is declined after several attempts to process the 1% transaction fee, your account (and subscriptions) will be put on hold and cease to function. We will then reach out to you to advise of the issue.
