Activate Bold Discounts

Bold Discounts offers a guided onboarding flow to help you quickly activate Bold Discounts on your store. This flow helps you set up your first discount group, add the sales icon and sales clock, and install Bold Discounts to the theme of your choice.

This article serves to help you complete the steps outlined in the in-app onboarding flow. If you prefer to manually install Bold Discounts, please visit our Installation Guide for Bold Discounts.

Pro-Tip: If you accidentally close the onboarding flow, you can return to it by navigating back to the Bold Discounts admin and click General Setup.

General setup

 

Select a theme

Once Bold Discounts is downloaded to your store and the terms and conditions are accepted, you are directed to the general setup checklist. Use the dropdown menu to select the theme where you would like to install Bold Discounts. Click Confirm after a theme is selected.

Step 1: Set up your first discount

Clicking Create on this page brings you to the page in a new tab where you can create a discount group within Bold Discounts.

Once you have created the discount groups needed in Bold Discounts, return back to the setup checklist page and click Next Step.

 

Step 2: Enable the sales clock (Optional)

Clicking Enable on this page directs you to your theme editor where you can enable the sales clock on your product pages.

The sales clock creates a sense of urgency, encouraging customers to purchase your products that are in active discounts with a start and end date in Bold Discounts.

To enable the sales clock in your theme, follow these steps:

  1. Click Enable to open your theme editor.
  2. Select a product template from the template menu.
  3. Click Add block, then click on V1: Sale Clock.
  4. Click and drag the V1: Sale Clock app block to change where the clock appears on your product page.
  5. Optional: Customize the sales clock. Click the app block to expand the style settings.
  6. Click Save.

Once you have enabled the sales clock in your theme, return back to the setup checklist, click Mark as complete, then click Next Step.

 

Step 3: Enable the sales icon (Optional)

Clicking Enable on this page directs you to your theme editor where you can enable the sales icon on product and collection pages.

The sales icon helps customers clearly identify which products on your store are on sale.

To enable the sales icon in your theme, follow these steps:

  1. Click Enable to open your theme editor.
  2. Select a product template from the template menu.
  3. Click App embeds in the left menu.
  4. Enable the V1: Sales Icon Product app embed by sliding the toggle to the right.
  5. Optional: Customize the icon. Click the arrow on the app embed to access the sales icon settings.
  6. Click Save.

 

Collection Page Sales Icon

  1. Click Enable to open your theme editor.
  2. Select a collection template from the template menu.
  3. Click App embeds in the left menu.
  4. Enable the V1: Sales Icon Collection app embed by sliding the toggle to the right.
  5. Optional: Customize the icon. Click the arrow on the app embed to access the sales icon settings.
  6. Click Save.

Once you have enabled the sales icon in your theme, return back to the setup checklist, click Mark as complete, then click Next Step.

 

Step 4: Enable Duplicate & Hide (Optional)

Pro-Tip: This feature requires Bold Upsell. If you do not have Bold Upsell installed on your store, this step can be skipped.

Duplicate & Hide works together with Bold Upsell. This feature allows you to copy a product on your store, discount it, hide it, and use it exclusively in an Upsell offer for a Buy One, Get One (BOGO) type sale. To enable Duplicate & Hide in your theme, follow these steps:

  1. Click Enable to open your theme editor.
  2. Click App embeds in the left menu.
  3. Enable the V1: Duplicate & Hide app embed by sliding the toggle to the right.
  4. Click the arrow on the app embed to access the settings and enter the information relevant to your theme.
  5. Click Save.

Once you have enabled Duplicate & Hide in your theme, return back to the setup checklist, click Mark as complete, then click Finish Setup.
