Integrating Givy (Gifting & Gift Cards) with Bold Subscriptions for Shopify Checkout allows your customers to gift a subscription to a recipient of their choice. Customers can select the number of subscription orders they’d like to purchase and send the gift to their recipient via email, URL, or print.

Functionality

When Givy is installed on your store, a Send as Gift button appears on the product page allowing customers to purchase subscriptions as gifts.

By default, all products are eligible for gifting. You can customize the products you’d like to make available for gifting in the Givy settings. Read more about this on Givy’s help center.

 

Gifter perspective

Once a customer clicks on the Send as Gift button, they can choose the number of subscription orders they’d like to gift, select the method of delivery (email, URL, or print), and add a custom message. Gifters can also opt to pay for product shipping, add a gif to their custom message, and select a future date for email delivery.

Once the gift is added to the cart, your customers can continue shopping on your store. Customers can purchase multiple gifts for different recipients all in a single checkout.

Recipient perspective

Depending on the method of delivery, recipients are directed to click a button or visit a link. This directs them to the redemption page. Recipients can either claim their gift subscription or convert it to a discount code of equal value.

Clicking Claim Gift directs recipients to the checkout where they can enter their payment details and begin receiving their gifted subscription orders.

Setup

To allow subscription gifting with Givy, please follow the steps below.

  1. Create a Subscription Group in Bold Subscriptions.

    Note: Prepaid subscriptions are not required for gifting as gifters can prepay for any amount of orders they wish.

  2. Download Givy from the Shopify app store, and install it on your store. Follow along with Givy’s onboarding wizard, and be sure to enable the Givy app embed.
  3. Follow Givy’s instructions for Subscriptions Gifting with Bold Subscriptions.

Alert: Please ensure automatic payment capture is enabled on your store. Gifts cannot be created or sent by email until the payment is captured.
