Set up PayPal via Braintree

To accept PayPal in your Multi-Currency checkout, create sub-accounts in your Braintree account for the different currencies and connect them to Cashier.

Braintree Payments is a PayPal service; it supports PayPal as well as credit card payments. To accept PayPal, you must have a PayPal Business Account.

To set up PayPal through Braintree in Bold Cashier, follow these steps:

  1. Sign up for a Braintree Payments Production (not Sandbox) account.

    Note: It's essential to make sure you set your currency the same for each of your accounts.

  2. Log into your Braintree Payments Account.

  3. Select Account.

  4. Copy and paste the "Merchant ID", "Public Key", and "Private Key" into a notepad.

    Note: These screenshots were taken from a development environment. Some of the verbiage may differ from a production account.

  5. Select My User.

  6. Select View Authorizations.

  7. Select Generate New Tokenization Key, then copy and paste the generated code into a notepad.

  8. Hover over "Account" and select Merchant Account Info.

  9. Select New Merchant Account.

  10. Name your Merchant Account ID, choose the currency you wish to use with this account and select Save.

  11. Copy and paste the generated "Merchant Account ID" into a notepad.

  12. From BigCommerce's admin, select Apps.

  14. Select Payment Options, then Payment Gateways.

  15. Select Connect Gateway.

  16. Select Connect Gateway next to "Braintree Credit Card" or "Braintree Paypal".

  17. Copy and paste the information, from your notepad, into the appropriate fields and select OK.

Note: If you're using PayPal, Enable it in Braintree.

When logged into the Braintree Dashboard go to Settings -> Processing. Scroll down to Accept Paypal and select Edit. On the following page, you can add your store's Privacy Policy & Terms of Service link and select Update once you're finished. Now a PayPal option should appear on your store's checkout. When existing subscribers go to update their payment info, they will be directed to update the info directly in PayPal.

Once Braintree and PayPal Business is set up, it may be up to two days before PayPal will approve the link between Braintree and PayPal.
