Loyalty Points provides you with the ability to offer a robust loyalty program to your customers. They're able to earn points for their purchases and redeem those points for discounts on future orders, free shipping, or various other custom rewards.
Note: Loyalty Points does not require a Liquid code installation to function on your site.

Loyalty Points' easy-to-follow setup wizard helps guide you through the process of configuring the basics of your loyalty program. You can specify the name of your program, what your reward "points" are called, and set up some introductory earning rules.

The earning rules are the meat and potatoes of your loyalty program. This is how your customers will gain points for completing specific actions with your program, such as signing up, making purchases, or promoting your store on social media.
Here's a more detailed breakdown of how these earning rules work:
- Purchasing Product (per dollar) - Customers earn points based on the dollar value of each order they place on your site. We generally recommend either keeping this amount at 1, or using a multiple of ten (e.g. 10, 100, 1000). This makes it easier for yourself, and your customers, to understand the value of their points.
- Signing Up - Customers will earn points simply for subscribing to your loyalty program. We usually recommend providing enough points so that customers can immediately convert their points into an existing reward. This will potentially incentivize them to make their first purchase on the site.
- Celebrating Birthdays - Customers are rewarded points every year that their birthday passes while they're subscribed to your loyalty program. Our recommended number of points to offer for this is based on your Average Order Value multiplied by the Purchasing Product value selected above.
- Share on Facebook - Customers are provided points for sharing their purchases on Facebook. This is a great way to increase your following and potentially draw new customers to your site.
- Share on Twitter - The same as the above but for Twitter. Both of the point values for these rewards should be based on how important social media presence is to your business.

The reward tiers are the intervals at which your customers can claim their points for benefits from your program. The rewards can be a dollar amount or percentage off an order, free shipping, or you can create and fulfill your own custom rewards.
By default, our suggested return to your customers is roughly 2% of their purchase amount. Depending on your profit margins, you may want to offer more or less than this amount.
To help you decide how many points each reward should be worth, here's a simple table:

In addition to coupon rewards, you can choose to offer Custom Rewards and/or enable Buy With Points:
- Custom Rewards - Customers can redeem their points for something other than a monetary-based reward. Some examples of Custom Rewards include:
- A "limited-edition" product you can include on the customer's next order for free.
- Some customization you can add to an existing product.
- A social media shoutout for customers who value online recognition.
- The option to spend their points on a charitable cause.

- Buy With Points - Customers are able to redeem their reward points on a direct point-to-dollar-amount ratio. The storefront widget allows them to select how much of a reward they'd like to redeem in real time. For example: they could convert 1,259 points into a coupon code for $12.59.
The widget is your customer's portal to accessing your loyalty program. You can customize the look and feel of your loyalty widget to better match your store's colours and branding.
Here are the ways in which your loyalty widget can be adjusted:
- Colors - This will adjust the actual color scheme the widget uses on the storefront. We recommend matching the "Accent Color" to your store's primary color. Once this is selected, you can change the foreground and background colors to find the right match for your site.
- Display Settings - These settings are the overall appearance of where and how the widget will show up on the site:
- Select a "Widget position" that won't interfere with the other widgets on your site.
- Choose an aesthetically-pleasing option for the "Widget style" that will draw your customers to open the loyalty portal.
- Pick a "Logged in appbar greeting" to present your customers with a welcoming message or custom icon.
- "Hide widget on mobile devices" if you're already using several other site widgets that may interfere with how the app displays on the store's mobile version.
- If you're on a paid plan tier, you can also choose to "Remove Bold branding" if you don't wish to show our logo on your loyalty widget.
- Custom Styling - This allows you to select custom margins and border radiuses for how the widget shows on your site. You can also increase the page depth (z-index) to have the widget display in front of specific elements of your site.
- Widget Positioning - Your site layout may require you to use different positioning for the widget on mobile devices. This section allows you to adjust this placement.
- Custom Icons - From here you're able to change each of the icons that are displayed within the widget; you can even use animated GIFs.

Your customers can be notified of several events that take place with your program. This gives you an opportunity to engage with active customers and enhance your store's branding even further.
We recommend customizing the color, text, and logo in your email notifications. Here are some of the ways the email notifications can be adjusted:
- Edit an email by selecting the ellipsis beside the desired email, then select Edit Template.
- Colors can be adjusted by selecting Tools, then Source Code.
- To add a custom logo, we recommend uploading an image to your Shopify store first, then copying the URL for that image.
- You can select Insert, then Image to paste your image into the email template through the "Source" field. Make sure to update the image dimensions as well so it fits in your email properly.
- Personalize the verbiage used in each of the templates. We use generic text for these emails so make sure you change them to match your store's message and branding.

Loyalty Points allows you to use your own verbiage/terminology when displaying program information to your customers. You can also customize these settings to explain your program in an entirely different language.

Customer Tiers make it easy to reward more loyal customers by offering enhanced earning ratios, giving them bonus points, or setting customer tags that can be used by other Shopify apps (such as Bold Memberships).

At this point you should have a fully-functional loyalty program. To activate your widget, select Settings, then Program Settings to enable the program if it isn't already live. You're also able to publish the widget on different themes for testing purposes.
If you're satisfied with your widget and configuration, we recommend letting existing customers know about your program. Select Dashboard, then Start Process under the "Retroactive Points" header to award points for purchases that have been previously made on the site. This will also let these customers know they have points and will introduce them to your program.
Once you're ready, you can create campaigns to encourage additional purchases on the site. Campaigns allow you to offer bonus points, or point multipliers to your customers during a specific time frame.
