Allow Customers to Pause/Resume Their Subscriptions in Bold Subscriptions



The Manage Subscriptions Page Version 2.0 is required for this setting to work.

You can allow your subscribers to pause and resume their subscription orders in Bold Subscriptions. Enabling this setting will give your subscribers the ability to put their subscription on hold whenever they need to, for as long as they need. During this time, they will not be billed or receive any orders that have not yet been sent.

Note: This is different than skipping an order in Bold Subscriptions, as the subscription will need to be resumed manually before the customer continues to receive the subscription product(s). As well, In order for customers to use this feature, you will need the Manage Subscriptions Page 2.0. Visit Activate the Manage Subscriptions Page 2.0 for more information on how to upgrade.

If you prefer not to give your customers this functionality, you can keep the setting turned off. You will still be able to pause and resume your customers' subscriptions from within the app.

This allows customers to put their subscription on hold for an indefinite amount of time. While paused, the customer will not be billed for or receive any subscription orders.

It is a great way to reduce churn (the amount of subscribers who cancel their subscriptions) by giving customers the flexibility to pause their subscription at their leisure, or allowing you to pause their subscription for them.

If you are ready to allow your subscribers to change their next order date, please follow these steps:

  1. From Shopify's admin, select Apps.

  2. Select Recurring Orders & Subscriptions by Bold.

  3. Select Settings, then General.

    Select Settings/General

  4. Under "Customers Can Pause and Resume Their Subscriptions", select Enable.

    Select Enable

  5. Select Save.

    Select Save

That's it!

You may have your own reasons for not enabling this feature, depending on the type of business model you are using Bold Subscriptions to manage.

You can keep this feature disabled to customers, but still have the ability to pause a customer's order from within the app, the same way you would manage your customers subscriptions for other reasons.
