Create Test Orders with Bold Subscriptions V1

Bold Subscriptions V1 allows you to connect a test payment gateway so you can demo the purchase process from your customer's perspective.

Testing your subscription orders gives you the ability to see how your subscriptions will function before connecting to a live payment gateway. It is highly recommended testing your purchase process before going live with Bold Subscriptions.

If your store is already live and connected to your desired payment gateway, all test orders will have to be created with a live credit card, through the connected payment gateway.

This article is relevant to Subscriptions V1. If you have Subscriptions for Shopify Checkout on your store, please visit Set Up Subscriptions for Shopify Checkout. If you are unsure of which version of Bold Subscriptions you have, please visit Identify Your Version of Bold Subscriptions

  6. Attach a credit card to this test payment gateway.

  8. Select Save.

    Test order customer

With this order, you can now see what your customer sees when navigating your store. This includes reviewing the Manage Subscription page, and making changes to your subscription purchase.

If your store is already live with a connected payment gateway, it is still beneficial to create a test order. This allows you to see how your customers can navigate your store, review the manage subscriptions page, and make sure that your checkout is fully functional.

Note: Placing a live test order will require a purchase be made on your store. This can be refunded after the payment is completed, and the features are tested.

  1. Go to your Storefront.

  2. Create a customer account within your store.

  3. Add a Subscription to your cart, and go to the checkout.

  4. Ensure that you are in the recurringcheckout.com domain of your store.

  5. Complete your customer and payment information.

  6. Complete the purchase.

Now that the payment has been completed:

  7. From the Shopify admin, select Orders.

  8. Find the order to ensure that it has processed successfully.

  9. Check the email used to place the order and ensure the confirmation email was received.

  10. Check your payment gateway to ensure the payment was processed.

  11. Log-in to your Customer account.

Depending on your payment gateway you should be able to process a refund within 24 hours. Visit Refunding a Bold Subscriptions Order to learn how to process a refund.

You will also be able to test the Manage Subscription page area with your test order.

FAQs

Bold Subscriptions V1 allows you to automatically fulfill a customer's subscription order once it's marked as paid in the Shopify admin.

This setting can be enabled inside of the Bold Subscriptions app admin under Settings > General.

After An Order Has Been Paid setting

Bold Subscriptions is otherwise incompatible with the remaining fulfillment of your orders, such as shipping your products or generating shipping labels. The remainder of your order fulfillment process must be done the same way that one-time orders are processed on your store.

When you have customer's subscriptions that are set to renew, a transaction will be sent from Bold Subscriptions to the payment gateway that is currently linked to the app on the day that the subscription is set to renew.

Once the transaction has been successfully processed, an order for all successful transactions will be generated between 4:00 - 6:00 AM CST, in your Shopify admin.

If a transaction fails due to a payment- or inventory-related issue (invalid credit card, expired credit card, insufficient inventory, etc), no order will be generated. Bold Subscriptions will attempt to renew the subscription using the frequency settings set in Bold Subscriptions under Settings > General > Failed transaction handling.
