Bold Subscriptions allows you to create an order using our test payment gateway. This gives you the ability to see how your subscription orders will function on your storefront before connecting to a live payment gateway.
This is recommended prior to going live with Bold Subscriptions, as it shows you what your customers are seeing when they manage their subscriptions.
If your store is already live and connected to your desired payment gateway, this test order will have to be created with a live order made via credit card. Having a test order on your store when it's live ensures that your payment gateway is properly connected, and will let you experience what your customers are seeing first-hand.
This method only works if you have not yet connected a payment gateway in Bold Subscriptions V1. The test payment gateway will allow you to use a test credit card to complete this purchase on your store.
If you have already connected a payment gateway account within Bold Subscriptions V1, please follow the instructions within the Accordion below for placing a live test order.
Please use this method for creating a test order:
From Shopify's admin, select Apps.
Select Bold Subscriptions V1.
Select Settings, then Payment Gateway.
Under "Other Payment Gateways", select Click here for alternate payment gateways.
Select Got it!
Attach a credit card to this test payment gateway.
Note: The app requires the credit card attached before any action can be taken with the test payment gateway. You can attach your own credit card, and will not be charged any transaction fees' for orders that process during testing.
Under "Select Your Payment Gateway", choose Test Payment Gateway.
Now Place a Test Order with Bold Subscriptions V1.
To place a test order, you would go through the checkout with one of your subscriptions products. You can use our test credit card information, below:

Within the Customer tab of the Bold Subscriptions app, it should be showing you as a Test Order customer, here:
With this order, you can now see what your customer sees when navigating your store. This includes reviewing the Manage Subscription page, and making changes to your subscription purchase.
If your store is already live and attached to a standard payment gateway (ie, Stripe or Braintree, etc), it is still beneficial to create a test order on your store. This allows you to see how your customers can navigate your store, review your Manage Subscription page, and make sure the orders are properly going through to your payment gateway.
Note: Placing a live test order will require a purchase be made on your store. This can be refunded after the payment is completed, and the features are tested.
To place a test order, follow these steps:
Go to your Storefront.
Create a customer account within your store.
Add a Subscription to your cart, and go to the checkout.
Ensure that you are in the recurringcheckout.com domain of your store.
Complete your customer and payment information.
Complete the purchase.
Now that the payment has been completed:
From Shopify's admin, select Orders.
Find the order to ensure that it has processed successfully.
Check the email used to place the order and ensure the confirmation email was received.
Check your payment gateway to ensure the payment was processed.
Log-in to your Customer account.
Depending on your payment gateway you should be able to process a refund within 24 hours. Visit Refunding a Bold Subscriptions Order to learn how to process a refund.
You will also be able to test the Manage Subscription page area with your test order.
Bold Subscriptions V1 has the ability to fulfill subscription line items on orders once the subscription products are marked as paid on the generated order in your Shopify admin. This setting can be enabled within the Bold Subscriptions in-app admin under Settings > General by enabling Automatically fulfill the order's line items under After An Order Has Been Paid:
With exception to the fulfillment of the subscription line items, Bold Subscriptions does not interact with the rest of the fulfillment of your orders, such as sending out your products or generating shipping labels. The rest of the order fulfillment must be processed the same way that one-time orders are processed on your store.
When you have customer subscriptions that are set to renew, a transaction will be sent from Bold Subscriptions to the payment gateway that is linked within the app on the day that the subscription is set to renew. Once the transaction has been successfully processed, an order for all successful transactions will be generated between 4:00 - 6:00 AM, CST, in your Shopify admin.
If a transaction fails due to a payment or inventory related issue (invalid credit card, expired credit card, insufficient inventory, etc.), an order will not be generated in your Shopify admin. Bold Subscriptions will attempt to renew the subscription again using the frequency settings set in Bold Subscriptions under Settings > General > Failed transaction handling:
