By default, Bold Subscriptions V1 will use your Shopify Shipping Zones to calculate the shipping costs within the checkout. You can choose to rely on your stores current shipping zones, or you can decide to use the Subscriptions' fixed Shipping rate feature.
Bold Subscriptions V1 Fixed Shipping Rates
Within the Subscription admin, under Settings > General, you will find our fixed shipping rate option halfway down the page. This feature can be used to set a fixed shipping rate to charge in a specified country that you ship too for your subscription orders.
This will create a standard shipping rate amount per Country. For example, if you wanted all local shipping to be $5.00, you can create that here. Please note that this will create a fixed rate on the whole order, whether your customer orders one item or ten items.
This shipping method is best used for stores that sell non-physical items, or if you have a fixed inventory selection such as a subscription box. If your customers are able to make changes to their product quantities, or are able to add new items to their subscriptions - this may not be the best option for your store.
If your store is currently using the Single Product Cart Mode, it could also be beneficial to offer a Fixed Shipping rate in order to offer a set cost for single product orders.
If you enter 0 for the Fixed Shipping rate, that will provide your customers with free shipping on all their subscription orders for that country.
Please see our article for Using Fixed Shipping Rates in Bold Subscriptions V1 for a detailed set of instructions for getting started with this feature.
Shopify Shipping Rates
If you do not use the Bold Subscriptions V1 fixed shipping rate feature, then your Shopify shipping rates will automatically be applied in the subscriptions checkout. This will base the rates for shipping for your subscriptions the same as your stores regular purchases.
When your customers enter their address for the subscriptions order in the checkout, it will prompt them to select a Shipping rate provider that is relevant to them within your Shopify settings.
This is beneficial for stores that offer flexibility for Subscriptions orders. For example, allowing your customers to add/remove items from an order, or choose the quantities of items within their purchase.
Please see our article for Using Shopify Shipping Rates in Bold Subscriptions V1 for a detailed set of instructions for getting started with this feature.
Bold Subscriptions V1 gives you the option to use the Shopify tax rates for your subscription purchases. This allows you to set customer-specific and product specific taxes on your store, and is the recommended method by Bold.
Using the Shopify Taxes method will ensure that there is consistency throughout your orders, and that the rates being applied to your products are pulled from your settings that are already created on your store.
