This guide answers several frequently asked questions in regards to the general functionality of Bold Discounts. Please select a question below to view the answer.

 


 

Can I create a Buy X Get Y type of discount using Bold Discounts?

Bold Discounts can only apply percentage or dollar discounts to your products.

You can offer buy/get type deals in cross-sell offers when Discounts is integrated with Bold Upsell. Please visit Bold Discounts Bold Integrations for more information.

Buy/Get discounts can also be achieved using either Bold Bundles or Bold Custom Pricing (on the select plan using quantity breaks).

 

Can I create country-specific discounts using Bold Discounts?

No, since discounts are applied to the unit price by Bold Discounts, the discounted rate applies to all countries on the storefront.

Can I create discount codes using Bold Discounts?

Bold Discounts does not create discount codes. All discount codes are created and managed in your Shopify admin.

 

Can I disable discount codes while running a sale?

Bold Discounts cannot disable discount codes created in Shopify. Both sources of discounts can work side-by-side for stackable discounts.

To prevent stackable discounts on your store, it is recommended to switch from Bold Discounts to Bold Discounts Powered by Price Rules. Can I edit product prices or descriptions while running a sale with Bold Discounts?

It is not recommended to change the price of your products when they are involved in an active discount group in Bold Discounts. Doing so may cause a disconnect between your products and Bold Discounts. Before changing the price of your products, turn off the discount group and wait for the sync to complete.

Simple edits to products can be made manually (without the use of a third party app) while your products are in active discount groups. Some edits could be: changing the product title, descriptions, or inventory levels.

 

Can I import products while running a sale with Bold Discounts?

Do not import products while you are running a sale with Bold Discounts. Importing products into your Shopify admin causes your products to disconnect from Bold Discounts and prevents you from ending a sale. Before importing products, pause all sales.

Discounts is not compatible with third-party inventory management apps, or apps that perform automatic product syncs. These can cause a disconnect between Discounts and your products by overwriting the metafields Discounts uses to place your products on sale. This can cause items to not be placed on sale, become double-discounted, or come off an active sale.

 

Can I set shipping rates that only apply to products that are discounted via Bold Discounts?

Bold Discounts does not have built-in shipping rates. The shipping rates that are set in the Shopify admin apply to products discounted through Discounts.

 

Can I select all products in my store in a discount group?

Yes, to select all products in a discount group, click Select All Results in the product selector popup.

How does the duplicate & hide feature manage inventory levels?

This feature is only used when Bold Discounts is integrated with Bold Upsell. Visit Bold Discounts Bold Integrations for more information on how this integration works.

When inventory tracking is enabled and the hidden duplicate version is purchased, Bold Discounts subtracts inventory from both the duplicate and the main version of the item. However, when just the main version is purchased, the inventory is not reduced on the duplicate product. This is because Shopify does not communicate with Bold's servers when a purchase is made.

The main version of your product always contains the true inventory total. Bold Discounts deletes duplicate items when the sale is turned off and since these products act as placeholders, the inventory for the primary product always remains true.

 

What is the duplicate & hide feature?

When integrated with Bold Upsell, Bold Discounts allows you to create Buy One, Get One deals using the duplicate & hide feature. This feature creates a hidden duplicate of a product, which you can present in an offer using Upsell.

This feature ensures your customer must buy the full priced item before they can purchase another item at a discount.

Can I show my discounts in other currencies?

Discounts are applied to prices using the store's default currency. Conversion happens in the Shopify Checkout. Please note that discounts will not be detected when setting a fixed price in Shopify Markets.

 

How does Bold Discounts work with Shopify Markets?

There are no limitations using non-primary markets when prices are converted by percentage. However, discounts set in Discounts V1 will not be detected when setting a fixed price in Shopify Markets.

 

What timezone settings are used for scheduling?

The timezone settings are based on your store's local time. They are found in your Shopify admin, under Settings > Store details.

 

Will my discounts work on other sales channels?

Products that are discounted in Bold Discounts apply to sales channels that use the price field set in your Shopify admin.

If the sales channel in question does not sync from the price field set in the Shopify admin, the price needs to be manually adjusted to reflect the discount from Bold Discounts.
