Product Pricing Groups allow you to select the products you want to discount and create the discounts you want to give each customer group (represented by your customer tags).

Note: Your customer tags should be set up before you begin creating your customer-specific pricing.

You can also set up quantity based discounts in your product pricing groups if your plan includes it. For more information about each plan, please visit Custom Pricing Overview & Pricing.

For plans that include Detailed Pricing, please visit Create, Edit or Delete Detailed Pricing.

    3. Under Quantity Break Pricing, select one of the following options:
      • Apply Customer Quantity Pricing per individual variants: Customers must purchase multiples of the exact same variant in order to receive the quantity-based discount (e.g., five large, red shirts).
      • Apply Customer Quantity Pricing per product: Customers must purchase multiples of the same product in order to receive a quantity-based discount (e.g., five shirts in any color or size).
      • Mix & Match: Customers receive the quantity-based discount if they purchase multiples of products that belong to groups with the same Mix & Match label. For example, two products from Group A, and three products from Group B that both use the XYZ Mix & Match label.

FAQs

Can I apply discounts per SKU/variant within a price group?

Yes, you can apply discounts set within price groups to individual variants/SKUs by selecting Variants from the product selector when either creating or editing an existing price group:

Product Selector Example

Can I apply discounts based on the total cart price or set tiered discounts based on a total cost?

No, Custom Pricing only applies discounts based on the unit price set on your products in your Shopify admin.

Can I copy price groups created from one store onto a different store?

Price groups cannot be copied from one store to another store. There isn't a way to export price groups within Custom Pricing.

If discounts are present in the Detailed Pricing section of Custom Pricing, the discounts can be exported into a .CSV file and can then be imported into a different store.

Note: Detailed Pricing is available with Premium or higher plans. Please visit Detailed Pricing Overview for more information on this feature.

Can I have a product in more than one active price group?

This can depend on the discount method you are using in Custom Pricing.

In Draft Orders Method or Variant Dependant Method, it is not recommended to have a product in more than one active price group. If this happens, the product may not receive the correct discounts on the storefront and in some cases, the discounts may not apply at all.

By default, in Accelerated Method, the discounts defined in Detailed Pricing are applied to products over discounts created in Product Pricing Groups or storewide tags.

To identify which discount method you are using, please visit Discount Methods and How to Switch.

Can I have a different price grid appear when a different variant is selected?

By assigning each variant for a product into different price groups in Custom Pricing, a different price grid appears on the product page when the appropriate variant is selected.

You can select individual variants in a price group by selecting the Variants option in the product selector:

Variant Selector Button

If you have enabled a Premium or higher plan in Custom Pricing, you can use the Detailed Pricing page to apply discounts to individual variants for your products. When an individual variant is selected on the product page, the price grid changes to reflect the discounts set for the variant from the Detailed Pricing page:

How do I restrict a tag from working with a particular product group?

To prevent a tag from working for a particular customer pricing group, the discount for that tag should be set to 0.

This can be done when creating or editing your product pricing groups:

Price Group - Discount Set to 0 Example

If you're using fixed prices as your discounting method, please leave this field blank instead. Entering a value of 0 provides a 100% discount in this case.

Is there a search field to locate a product in a price group?

Currently, there isn't a search field that can be used to locate a product within a price group. In order to find a product, you need to review the products for each price group and find where the product has been added.

It is recommended to use an internal name for each price group to help you identify which products are being discounted in each price group. For example, if you created a price group to discount a collection of shirts, using the collection's name as the price group's internal name would help with locating these products in the future.

There is a search field in Detailed Pricing.

Detailed Pricing allows you to easily discount individual products and filter your products by collection, vendor or product type.

Please visit Detailed Pricing Overview for more information on this feature.

What is the difference between product pricing groups and detailed pricing?

Custom Pricing offers two different ways of applying wholesale pricing to your products:

Both of these methods have various differences in their benefits, set-up, complexity, and discounting ability.

Product Pricing Groups

Applying wholesale pricing through customer pricing groups involves creating a group, selecting a group of products, then assigning a discount for each pricing tier within that group for those products.

Different discounts for different products would require separating those products in their own customer pricing group.

Price Group Example

Detailed Pricing

The Detailed Pricing functionality allows for easier management of individual products and their respective discounts compared to using customer pricing groups. This feature is available on the Premium plan or higher

Products and customer pricing tags are listed in a grid type format. You're able to specify the fixed price or discount for a particular product or variant. This is especially helpful in situations where each product or variant requires a different discount.

Note: By default, Detailed Pricing discounts apply ahead of Product Pricing Group discounts or storewide tags.

Another advantage of Detailed Pricing is that all product discounts are isolated from each other. Updating one variant/customer tag discount only causes the app to process that one product, instead of all of the products that happen to be in a customer pricing group.
