Bold Discounts uses discount groups to apply discounted rates to your products. You can determine which products are placed in each discount group by selecting individual products, a collection, or your entire store. You can create your discounts by a percentage off or an amount off.
You can also assign a tag to the products being discounted in a discount group. These tags can be used in a smart collection to automatically add a daily deals section to your store.
Functionality
Bold Discounts uses a Shopify connector API to change the product prices in your Shopify admin. When a product is discounted in an active discount group, the original price is moved to the compare-at price field (if the field is open and available), and the discounted price appears in the main price field.
To properly reflect the discounts applied in Bold Discounts, it's best to ensure products don't already have the compare-at price field filled in before turning on your discounts.
For example:
- Product A is priced at $10.00 in Shopify without a compare-at price.
- Product A is placed in a discount group with a 10% off discount.
- Product A's price is changed to $9.00 (when the discount group is turned on).
- Product A's original $10.00 price moves over to the compare-at price field.
- Product A is displayed on the storefront with a sale price of $9.00 and a compare-at price of $10.00.
This accurately reflects the 10% discount set in the discount group.
If the compare-at price field has already been filled before Bold Discounts applies a discount, the compare-at price field remains untouched.
For example:
- Product B is priced at $10.00 in Shopify with a compare-at price of $15.00.
- Product B is placed in a discount group with a 10% off discount.
- Product B's price is changed to $9.00 (when the discount group is turned on).
- Product B's original compare-at price of $15.00 remains untouched.
- Product B is displayed on the storefront as $9.00 and a compare-at price of $15.00.
This does not accurately reflect the 10% discount set in the discount group.
Features
When products are added into a discount group in Discounts, the products can be added manually one product at a time, in bulk by selecting a collection or by selecting the entire store.
Discounts can be set by either applying a percentage base discount or a set amount off the product.
If you are using a percentage based discount or a set amount off calculation type and have products that end in different cents, you can apply an override setting to have all products selected in the discount group to end at the same cent value.
A discount tag can be applied to each product that is selected in a discount group to allow a quick and easy way to apply daily deal promotions on the storefront.
