Bold Discounts' Bold Integrations

Overview

Bold Discounts integrates with some of our other apps that is available on Shopify. These integrations either allow customers to receive a discount on top of a product being offered, or simply allow both apps to exist on the same store without any conflicts between each other.

Discounts does not have an official integration with Bold Brain at this time. Both apps work independently from each other and can be used without any interference between each other. 

Discounts does not have an official integration with Bold Product Builder at this time. Both apps work differently from each other and in result, cannot work together at the same time. 

Bold Bundles and Discounts work well together, but any sales you run on an item with Discounts will apply to both the regular price and the “Bundled” price.

For example: If you have an item that is regularly $100 and have a “Bundle and Save 10%” sale, the product is either $100 or $90 if bought as a bundle. If you run a 20% off sale with Discounts, the regular price would then become $80, and the bundled price would be $72 ($90-20%). When the sale ends with Discounts, both the regular and bundled price will return to normal.

Discounts does not have an official integration with Bold Cashier at this time. Both apps work independently from each other and can be used without any interference between each other.

When a discount is activated in Discounts, the discounted rate will be carried over into Cashier's checkout, similar to how the discounted price is carried over into the Shopify checkout.

 Caution

Bold Custom Pricing must be enabled in the Variant Dependant Method - Version 1 for this integration. Discounts is not able to apply discounts on top of the wholesale or quantity break discounts unless Custom Pricing is using this method. Visit Discount Methods and How to Switch for more information on this method and how to switch. 

While Custom Pricing's discount method is set to the Variant Dependant Method, hidden variants are created for wholesale discounts or quantity break discounts. These hidden variants replace the live variant when a customer is logged in with an account that is tagged with a tag created within the app, or when a customer has added sufficient quantity for a product that meets the requirements for a quantity break goal. 

When a discount group is created in Discounts, all of the variants that exist for a product, including the hidden variants, will be discounted based on the discount type selected within a discount group. 

Note: When changing prices for products that are receiving discounts from both the Custom Pricing and Discounts app, the discount group must be turned off first before making any changes to the product in Custom Pricing. 

Bold Discounts V2/V3 and Bold Discounts V1 cannot be installed on the same store at the same time. Only one version of the app can be installed at a time. 

Discounts does not have an official integration with Bold Loyalty Points & Rewards at this time. Both apps work independently from each other and can be used without any interference between each other. 

Note: Coupons generated in the Loyalty Points widget can be stacked on top of the discounts created from Discounts. If you would like to avoid discount codes from stacking on top of discounted products from Discounts, please visit Bold Discounts V2 Benefits & Upgrade for steps on the upgrade process.

Discounts created in Bold Discounts V2 while on the Basic plan uses a draft order to apply the discounts in the checkout, which does not allow the use of discount codes in the draft order checkout page. 

Discounts does not have an official integration with Mapply at this time. Both apps work independently from each other and can be used without any interference between each other.

Discounts does not have an official integration with Bold Multi-Currency at this time. Both apps work independently from each other and can be used without any interference between each other. 

Discount groups that are created from Discounts can be applied to priced options that are created in Bold Product Options. While both of these apps integrate together, there is a certain process that needs to be followed when a discount group that is discounting a priced option. 

When a discount group is deactivated in Discounts that contains a priced option, the priced option will be reduced in the Shopify admin, however, the discounted price will still be reflected on the storefront until the option set is re-saved and the cache for Product Options is cleared in the theme's liquid code. 

For steps on re-saving an option set and clearing the cache in the theme's liquid code, please follow these steps: 

  1. Within the Product Options admin, select Options.
  2. Select Edit next to the option set that contains the priced option.

  3. Select Edit next to the option group that contains the priced option.

  4. Select Save.
  5. After the option group is finished saving, select Save Option Set.

  6. From within the Shopify admin, select Online Store, Actions, Edit code next to the theme you have Product Options installed on.
  7. Under Snippets, select bold-common.liquid.

  8. Near the bottom of the file, find the following line of code that begins with:
     window.BOLD.common.cacheParams.options

  9. Replace the last 2 numbers in the string of numbers with two different numbers.

  10. Select Save.

Discounts does not have an official integration with Quickbooks Online Sync by Bold at this time. Both apps work independently from each other and can be used without any interference between each other.

Discounts does not have an official integration with Bold Sales Motivator at this time. Both apps work independently from each other and can be used without any interference between each other.

Discounts does not have an official integration with Bold Store Locator at this time. Both apps work independently from each other and can be used without any interference between each other.

Discounts and Bold Subscriptions do not have an official integration with each other, however, both apps can work alongside each other without any interference on the storefront. 

When a product is added into an active discount group and a subscription group, the product will be discounted within the Shopify admin by changing the product's price to reflect the discount from Discounts and a subscription option will be available on the product page for customers to be able to subscribe to. 

While both apps are compatible with each other, products that are receiving a discount are not linked between Discounts and Subscriptions when a customer purchases a discounted product as a subscription. 

When a discount group is turned off in Discounts, the discounted price will remain the same for all customers in Subscriptions. If you would like the discounted price for a product to revert back to the original price after the discount group has been turned off, you will need to either change the price manually for each customer in Subscriptions, or use the Manage Pricing tool to change the product price for all active subscribers that have the product in question in an active subscription. 

 Caution

This offer type can only be created using Bold Discounts V1. The latest version of Discounts does not create duplicate product versions. Visit Create/Edit/Delete a Bundle for more information on how to create these offer types using Bold Bundles.

Discounts (V1) integrates with Bold Upsell to provide you with the ability to create 'Buy One, Get One' (BOGO) offers on your site.

Discounts' duplicate & hide functionality creates hidden, duplicate versions of your store's products that can be offered through Upsell when certain conditions are met. Discounts does this to ensure that these items are not purchasable on their own, and that the customer must qualify for the discounted item(s) first.

Upsell then allows you to set the conditions for when this product will be offered. You can have the hidden discounted item(s) display when a specific product is added to the cart, when the customer is checking out with certain items, or when the customer's cart is within a defined price range.

 


 

Requirements

Both Bold Discounts V1 and Bold Upsell must be installed on the same store prior to the setup steps below. Both apps can be installed through the following links below:

Note: After installing Bold Discounts, the app will be set to Version 2 automatically which at this time, does not have the duplicate and hide functionality. After Bold Discounts has been installed, please reach out to our Merchant Success Team for assistance with changing to Version 1 of Bold Discounts. 

 


 

Setup

With both apps installed and the duplicate and hide installation steps completed, please follow these steps to set up a BOGO offer: 

 

Step 1: Create the Discounted Product 

  1. From within your Discounts app, select Current Discounts.
  2. Select Create Discount.
  3. Enter a Discount Name (i.e. T-shirt BOGO).
  4. Enter a Discount Amount (% discount for the product that is being offered).
  5. Select % next to the "Discount Amount".
  6. Select Select Products.
  7. Select Add next to each of the products you would like to discount.

    Note: You can also filter by collection, vendor, and product type. To put your entire store on sale, select Select All Results here instead of Add.

  8. Select Continue with selected products.
  9. Leave Enable Date Range deselected.
  10. Leave Override cents deselected.
  11. Under "Duplicate & Hide" select Create a hidden duplicate (Liquid update required).
  12. Select Create.
  13. Select the Toggle to enable the offer.

    Note: The toggle will be green when the offer is enabled.

  14. Select OK.

Wait for the discount process to complete and continue to these next steps:

 

Step 2: Verify the Discounted Products

  1. From Shopify's admin, select Products.
  2. Enter the Product Name (of a product you selected in Step 1) in the "Search Bar".

You should see two products here:

At this point, you can then continue to these next steps: 

 

Step 3: Create the Cross-Sell Offer

  1. From within your Upsell app, select Offers, then Create Offer.
  2. Enter a name for your offer.

    Note: This is an internal name for your own reference.

  3. Select Set A Trigger.
  4. Select the trigger type.

    Note: "Add to cart" is the recommended method.

  5. Select Cross-sell.
  6. Choose Select Products.
  7. Select Add next to the product you would like to trigger the offer.

    Note: You can also filter by collection, vendor, and product type. Deselecting the "Group variants by products" option and selecting search will allow you to choose individual variants to use in your offers.

  8. Select Continue with selected products.
  9. Select Set An Offer.
  10. Enter an offer title.
  11. Enter an offer description.
  12. Choose Select Products.
  13. Select Add next to the discounted product.

    Note: Here you will need to find the product that has the discounted price associated with it. If you are unable to find it with the search feature, you will need to page through the products using the numbers at the bottom to find the product. If it doesn't appear, select "Update Now" in the top-right corner. Close the product selector window and try again in a few minutes.

  14. Select Continue with selected products.
  15. Select the additional offer options (optional).

    Note: If you're running a true BOGO offer, we recommend leaving these options unselected.

  16. Select Set Date Range (optional).
  17. Enter a Start Date and End Date (optional).
  18. Select Set Cart Price (optional).
  19. Enter a Min cart total and Max cart total (optional).
  20. Enable the Automatically remove items from the cart if the trigger or conditions are unmet option.

    Note: This option will only work if you're using discounted products created through Bold Discounts V1. The other options in this section are optional. 

  21. Select Save Offer.

Lastly, you'll need to test and ensure the offer is working on the storefront by following these steps: 

 

Step 4: Test the Offer

  1. Select View storefront.
  2. Select the trigger product.
  3. Select Add to Cart.
  4. Add the upsell offer to your cart.
  5. Remove the trigger product from your cart.
