Merchant Email Notifications in Bold Subscription

Overview

Bold Subscriptions has a built-in email feature that sends automatic notifications to the merchant when a user triggers activities. You choose which activities you'd like to be notified about, and Subscriptions will email you every time this action is taken.

A separate email is sent for each action taken which contains customer name, email address and what action was taken. The emails will be sent to the email address stored under "Bold Notifications Email".

These events can be triggered by the merchant, but in most cases will be triggered by your subscribers making changes in the "Manage Subscription" area of your store.

To enable user activity notification emails, please follow these steps: 

  1. From Shopify's admin, select Apps.
  2. Select Bold Subscriptions.
  3. Select Settings, then Email Notifications.
  4. Under "User Activity Notifications", select account activities you would like to be notified about.
  5. Select Save.

 


 

Collect Email Addresses

During the Bold Subscriptions checkout process, customers can opt-in to receive email updates and promotional content from your Shopify store. These clients will be added to the "Accepts Marketing" customer group in Shopify, and you can email them with store updates, newsletters, discounts, etc.

To modify the settings, please follow these steps:

  1. From Shopify's admin, select Apps.
  2. Select Bold Subscriptions.
  3. Select Settings, then General.
  4. Scroll down to "Accepts Marketing", and choose one of the following options:

    Disable and hide this field
    Customer emails are not collected, and customers cannot agree to receive updates from your store. The option will not display at all in the recurring checkout.

    Customer agrees to receive promotional emails by default
    Customer emails are collected, and customers will automatically receive updates from your store. This means the option will be selected automatically, and can be deselected by your customers.

    Customer does not agree to receive promotion email by default
    Customer emails are not collected, and customers will not automatically receive updates from your store. It means the option will be deselected automatically and they will have to select the box to opt into it.
  5. Select Save.

 


 

View/Export Customers who Accept Marketing

Reviewing which of your customers have accepted marketing will allow you to use this information when creating email campaigns. You could also use this to offer specific campaigns to customers who have enabled this feature on your store.

To view a list of customer that have opted to accept marketing, please follow these steps:

  1. From Shopify's admin, select Customers.
  2. Select the Accepts marketing tab.
  3. Select Export.
  4. Select Export Options.
  5. Select Export Customers.
