Create an Upsell or Cross-sell Offer

Overview

With Bold Upsell, there are two main types of offers that you can create; Upsell offers or Cross-Sell offers. This article will guide you with step-by-steps to properly create cross-sell offers, upsell offers, upsell after checkout offers (requires a grandfathered plan of Bold Cashier), duplicating an offer and how to use individual variants with your offers.

 Pro-Tip

If you would like to offer a discount for Add to Cart offers, this can be done with the help of Bold Discounts V1. For more information on how to integrate Bold Upsell and Bold Discounts V1 together, please visit Bold Upsell: Bold App Integrations.

  1. From within Upsell's admin, select OffersCreate Offer.
  2. Enter an internal name for your offer.
  3. Select Set A Trigger, then Add to cart, and click the Upsell bubble.
  4. Choose Select Products.
  5. Select Add next to the product you would like to trigger the offer.

    Note: You can select all of your products by selecting "SELECT ALL RESULTS" above the search results.

  6. Select Continue with selected products
  7. Under "Offer Products", choose Select Products.
  8. Enter an offer titleoffer description, and choose Select Products, then Add next to the discounted product.

    Note: You can select all of your products by selecting "SELECT ALL RESULTS" above the search results.

    Find the product that has a discounted price. If it doesn't appear, please select "Update Now" in the top-right corner, close the product selector window, and try again in a few minutes.

    You can select individual variants for products by deselecting the checkbox next to the "Group variants by products" text, then selecting Search again.

  9. Select Continue with selected products.
  10. Select Set another offer... on the "Offer declined" or "Offer accepted" option (optional).

    Note: The Set another offer option is only available if you have enabled Upsell's "funnels" feature.

  11. Repeat Steps 7 to 10 until your funnel conditions are satisfied.
  12. Select Set Date Range, and enter a Start Date and End Date (optional).
  13. Select any of the "Additional Options" (optional). 
  14. Select Save Offer.

If you have chosen more than 3 offer products, you may only see 3 products appear in the upsell popup modal on the storefront. If you would like to see all offer products, this can be done by enabling the "Show all offered products" setting within Bold Upsell under Settings > Upsell Settings:

Note: Cross-sells can only be set to trigger when a customer clicks "Add to Cart", or with the "Before Checkout" trigger.

To create a cross-sell offer with Bold Upsell, please follow these steps:

  1. From within Upsell's admin, select Offers > Create Offer.
  2. Enter an internal name for your offer.
  3. Select Set A Trigger, then set your trigger type.

    Note: If you are using Upsell and Bold Cashier together, you can enable Upsell after Checkout and select After checkout.

  4. Choose Select Products, and select Add next to the product you would like to trigger the offer.

    Note: You can select all of your products by selecting "SELECT ALL RESULTS" above the search results.

    You can select individual variants for products by deselecting the checkbox next to the "Group variants by products" text, then selecting Search again.

  5. Select Continue with selected products.
  6. Enter a quantity restriction (optional).

    Note: This is the minimum number of selected products the customer must have in their cart for the offer to trigger.

  7. Select Set An Offer.
  8. Enter an offer titleoffer description, and choose Select Products, then Add next to the product(s) you are offering.

    Note: You can select all of your products by selecting "SELECT ALL RESULTS" above the search results.

  9. Select Continue with selected products.
  10. Select Set another offer... on the "Offer declined" or "Offer accepted" option (optional).

  13. Select Set Cart Price (optional) and enter a Min cart total and Max cart total (optional).
  14. Select any of the "Additional Options" (optional). 
  15. Select Save Offer.

 Caution

This offer type requires Bold Cashier to be set up and enabled. At this time, Bold Cashier is unavailable for installation via Shopify. This is due to the re-evaluations and restrictions created on payments being processed by third-party checkouts on their platform. If your store has installed our Bold Cashier app prior to January 20th, 2020 - you will be able to continue using this feature.

  1. From within your Upsell app, select Offers, then Upsell After Checkout
  2. Select Create An Offer.
  3. Enter an internal name for your offer.
  4. Select Set A Trigger, and choose After checkout.
  5. Choose Select Products, then select ADD next to the product(s) you would like to trigger the offer.

    Note: You can select all of your products by selecting "SELECT ALL RESULTS" above the search results.

    You can select individual variants for products by deselecting the checkbox next to the "Group variants by products" text, then selecting Search again.

  6. Select Continue with selected products.
  7. Enter a quantity restriction (optional).

    Note: This is the minimum number of selected products the customer must have in their cart for the offer to trigger.

  8. Select Set An Offer and enter an offer titleoffer description, and choose Select Products, then Add next to the product(s) you are offering. 
  9. Select Continue with selected products.
  10. Select your Offer options (optional).

  11. Select Offer customers an after checkout discount if you want to offer a "buy one, get one" (BOGO) deal.

    Note: If you are not offering a BOGO deal, skip to Step 15.

  12. Enter a discount amount and select either a percentage or dollar amount.

    Note: The discount amount you set here will apply individually to each product offered in the upsell window.

  13. Select Set another offer... on the "Offer declined" or "Offer accepted" option.

    Note: The Set another offer option is only available if you have enabled Upsell's "funnels" feature

  14. Repeat Steps 12 - 13 until your funnel conditions are satisfied.
  15. Select Set Date Range (optional).
  16. Enter a Start Date and End Date (optional).
  17. Select Set Cart Price (optional).
  18. Enter a Min cart total and a Max cart total (optional).
  19. Select Hide products that are out of stock (ie. Don't allow backorders) (optional).
  20. Select Save Offer.

  2. Select the ellipsis beside the offer you want to duplicate.

  3. Select Edit or Duplicate depending on what you want to do.
  4. Adjust your offer conditions accordingly.
  5. Select Save Offer.
  1. Create an upsell or cross-sell offer using the instructions above.
  2. At Step 4 when the product selector box opens, deselect Group variants by products (variants will display as dropdown items within products) and select Search.

You will now be able to select individual variants and complete the upsell or cross-sell offer creation.
