This guide answers several commonly asked questions regarding functionality with Bold Upsell. Read through the questions and answers below.
Can I test Upsell on an unpublished theme?
You can install Upsell on an unpublished theme. Simply ensure the app embeds are switched off on the live theme so your offers don't appear to your customers and enable the app embeds on the unpublished theme.
To see how to turn on and off the app embeds, please visit our Installation Guide for Bold Upsell.
Once the app embeds are enabled on the unpublished theme, preview the theme in your Shopify admin under Online Store > Themes by selecting the ellipsis next to the theme and selecting Preview. While you are previewing the theme, navigate to the location of where you setup a triggered product to test the offer.
Will Shopify's 'Buy Now' buttons work with Bold Upsell?
No. Dynamic Buy Now buttons on your product page skip the necessary add to cart functionality that Bold Upsell requires when your customers add products to the cart. Offers won't display when Buy Now buttons are used.
Example
To remove this button from your store, please follow the steps in Shopify's article: Adding and removing dynamic checkout buttons.
Can I use one Upsell account across my two Shopify stores?
Upsell must be downloaded separately to each store. One account with Upsell will not work across two stores.
Is there a limit on how many times an offer will be shown to one customer?
There is no limit on the amount of times that an offer is shown to a customer within the limit of your plan views. If a customer activates your trigger event along with the trigger product, the offer is presented.
Once the offer has been accepted and is in the cart, the offer is not shown again.
It is possible for your customer to see the same offer more than once on your store such as when revisiting a page and reactivating the trigger event without previously accepting the offer.
Can I show offers in my customer’s local currency using Shopify Markets?
Upsell is not capable of displaying Shopify Market prices. This is due to how Shopify Markets round the converted price. In addition, Post Purchase offers do not work when the Shopify Market is set to a non-primary market.
Why am I sometimes asked to update data access for Upsell?
Every once in a while you may see the following notice when logging into Upsell that requires you to update data access before you can access the app admin.
These increased permissions allow our team at Bold to develop and release important new features for Upsell. Our team is dedicated to creating powerful solutions for you and is always striving to improve our services.
