6. Analytics

Because Bold Checkout uses its own checkout, the app has its own section for managing orders that are both processed, and abandoned, through the Bold Checkout. You may connect the app to Facebook Pixel or Google Analytics to track your customer's data throughout the checkout process.

Order Management

Orders purchased by customers through the Bold Checkout can be viewed within the Bold Checkout app admin under Orders > All Orders.

If an order fails to generate, a record of the error message will be created and stored in Bold Checkout.

Abandoned Cart Management

Customers who enter their name or email address in the checkout, then abandon their purchase, will be recorded inside of the Bold Checkout app admin under Orders > Abandoned Carts. Abandoned carts can only be viewed after the email templates have been activated and customized.

Every abandoned cart record includes the following information:

  • The date of the last update made by the customer in the checkout.
  • The customer's name.
  • The customer's email address.
  • A direct link to the customer's abandoned checkout.
  • A status & timestamp of whether & when an automated email was sent to the customer.

9. Place a test order

We strongly recommend testing Bold Checkout before enabling it.

Bold Checkout's development mode allows you to process test orders through a "dummy" payment gateway, which doesn't charge anything against your credit cards. This is a great way to check out your checkout and familiarize yourself with the process.

Enable Development Mode

  1. From the BigCommerce admin, select Apps.
  2. Select Bold Checkout.
  3. Select Payment Options, then Payment Gateways.
  4. Select the toggle to enable Development Mode.
  5. Once Development mode has been enabled, you can proceed with placing a test order.

Place a Test Order

It's highly recommended placing a test order using Bold Checkout's development mode to avoid being charged real dollars during testing.

We also recommend considering different variables and scenarios when placing test orders, like gift cards, discount codes, credit cards, being logged in, etc. to ensure everything is setup properly.

Please visit Place a Test Order in Bold Checkout for more information.

10. Enable Bold Checkout

Bold Checkout must be enabled within the app admin's General Settings before it can be used by your customers.

  1. From the BigCommerce admin, select Apps.
  2. Select Bold Checkout.
  3. Select Settings, then General Settings.
  4. Under Enable Bold Checkout, select Turn Bold Checkout On.
