Integration Hub for Bold Subscriptions V1

Bold Subscriptions V1 can integrate with many third party apps to help you and your store reach its fullest potential. All of the the integrations inside of this article are completely supported and built in to Bold Subscriptions V1.

This article is relevant to Subscriptions V1. If you have Subscriptions for Shopify Checkout on your store, please visit our Integration Hub for Subscriptions for Shopify Checkout. If you are unsure of which version of Bold Subscriptions you have, please visit Identify Your Version of Bold Subscriptions.

Integrations with other Bold apps

Bold Subscriptions V1 pairs well with many of our own apps to help your store market exactly how you'd like.

Bold Custom Pricing integrates with Bold Subscriptions V1 to allow you to offer your wholesale products on a recurring basis.

This integration provides your customers with their wholesale discount, and creates a subscription for those items. You have the ability to choose which products you would like to offer as a subscription, along with the shipment intervals.

 Alert

To complete this integration, Bold Custom Pricing must be enabled in the Variant Dependant Method. This is needed to create your wholesale subscriptions. Please Switch Discount Methods in Custom Pricing in order to proceed.

Functionality

When a customer subscribes to one of your discounted wholesale variants, Bold Subscriptions V1 will keep the customer subscribed to that product, and its pricing, on a recurring basis. If you remove this customer's Custom Pricing tag from the Shopify admin, they will still be subscribed to the products at a discounted rate.

If you notice that one of your customers is receiving a discount on their subscription that they are no longer eligible for, we recommend adjusting the product price or swapping the variant to the correct one within Bold Subscriptions V1.

Bold Custom Pricing creates groups. Depending on how this is setup on your store, Custom Pricing will automatically delete and remake your store's product variants. If your subscriptions are setup before the Custom Pricing groups are created, you will have to ensure that the two are properly connected.

Please visit Inventory Management in Bold Subscriptions for more information.

Here are some actions that would cause a group of variants to be replaced within Custom Pricing:

  • Saving a Group
  • Deleting a Group

  • Toggling a group on or off

  • Changing a price for a product in the detailed pricing section of Custom Pricing
  • If we receive a partner_shop_updated webhook

Quantity Breaks

When a customer subscribes, they will have the ability to manage their order(s) through the Manage Subscription Page.

If your customers have a discount applied to their order through a Quantity Breaks rule, this will be fixed for the entire length of their subscription, even if the quantity is edited. You will have to offer subscriptions within all of the Quantity Breaks prices.

This compatibility is unable to limit subscriptions to only certain quantities.

Setup

If you change your pricing groups after this is setup, you will then need to reselect the variants in your Bold Subscriptions V1 groups.

  1. Review your store to ensure that you are currently on the Variant Dependant Method of Bold Custom Pricing.

  2. Follow this guide to create your Custom Pricing Groups.

  3. Follow this guide to create a Standard Subscription.

  4. Under Step 2: Select Product(s), deselect the Group variants by products option.

    Group Variants by Products Selection

  5. Search for your product pricing variants, and select ADD on them.

Note: Only select the variants that relate to the product pricing group you're creating a subscription for. For example: select every "gold-status" variant if you're creating a subscription group for customers who are eligible for these items as subscriptions.

  6. Complete the rest of the Subscription set-up how you'd like.

  7. Save the Subscription, and test.

As with the Custom Pricing side of this app, changing aspects of your Quantity Break groups will cause the variants to be deleted and remade. As above, you would need to use the Manage Deleted Products tool in Bold Subscriptions to replace the products, if this were to happen.

Here is a list of some actions that would cause a group of variants to be replaced by the Bold Quantity Breaks app:

  • Saving a group
  • Deleting a quantity break group

  • Toggling a group on or off

  • Saving your display settings

 Caution

This integration requires that Multi-Currency and Bold Cashier are set up and enabled on your store. Bold Subscriptions is not able to take payments in other currencies without these two apps.

Please visit Multi-Currency & Cashier Integration for more information on how to properly enable this integration.

Bold Subscriptions offers you the flexibility to accept payments from your customers in foreign currencies. When using the two apps together, will store your customer's original conversion rate, then process all of their recurring subscription orders at that same rate.

As the store owner, you're able to view the amount your customer paid in your store's default currency.

Note: This feature is only available on the Professional plan of Bold Subscriptions. Please visit Subscriptions Overview for more information.

Setup

  1. From the Shopify admin, select Apps.
  2. Select Bold Subscriptions v1.
  3. Select Enterprise Features, then Multi-Currency.
  4. Select Enable Multi-Currency.

Bold Subscriptions V1 and Bold Product Upsell are only compatible with the following cart modes:

  • Multiple products
  • Recurring cart

Please visit Cart Modes in Bold Subscriptions for more information.

Using Bold Subscriptions V1 alongside Bold Propduct Upsell allows you to trigger either an upsell or cross-sell offer when customers add a subscription to their cart, or reach your checkout.

Bold Product Upsell is not able to include subscription products in your upsell / cross-sell offers. The necessary subscription information doesn't get passed to the cart correctly when they're used within an offer.

Please visit Bold Upsell: Information & Overview for more information.

Third Party App Integrations

Listed below are integrations created by third party companies that Bold Subscriptions V1 supports.

Most integrations can be enabled in the Bold Subscriptions app admin under Integrations > View all Integrations.

Analytics & Reporting

This section goes over all of our integrations that help track both the data and analytics of your customer's subscription purchases.

 Caution

Facebook Pixel now requires you to verify your domain ownership before completing this integration.

Please contact our Customer Success team for further assistance.

Facebook Pixel helps you track the data and analytics of your customer's purchases, helping increase the effectiveness of your advertising and product marketing.

You can enable this integration from the Bold Subscriptions V1 app admin under View all Integrations. You will need to enter your Facebook Pixel ID.

Functionality

By default, Facebook Pixel tracks 9 standard events:

  • ViewContent
  • Search
  • AddToCart
  • AddToWishlist
  • InitiateCheckout
  • AddPaymentInfo
  • Purchase
  • Lead
  • CompleteRegistration

When paired with Facebook Pixel Helper, you can see when events are loading or getting triggered:

  • ViewContent - Triggered on page load. (For example, if a product is searched and opened)
  • Search - Triggered when a search is performed.
  • AddToCart - Triggered when a product is  successfully added to the cart.
  • AddToWishlist - Triggered when a product is added to a wish list.
  • InitiateCheckout - Triggered when the checkout page loads.
  • AddPaymentInfo - Triggered when the payment information (for example, a credit card number) is entered and validated.
  • Purchase - Triggered when the complete button is clicked and the transaction is successful.
  • Lead - Triggered when a sign up is completed.
  • CompleteRegistration - Triggered when a registration form is completed.

Once connected and your domain ownership has been verified by our Customer Success team, this tracked information will appear in the Facebook Pixel app under Events Manager > Pixels > Subscriptions V1.

Currently, Bold Subscriptions V1 has integrations with Google Analytics to help with cross domain tracking, e-commerce Integrations, advanced tracking scripts, and Google autocomplete.

Integrating Google Analytics with Bold Subscriptions V1 helps maintain your subscription's tracking sessions.

For more information on how each of these can benefit your store, please visit Google Analytics, AutoComplete & Advanced Tracking Scripts.

Klaviyo's integration with Bold Subscriptions V1 helps track events and gather valuable information from your customer's subscription purchases. You can use this data to communicate strategic email and social media campaigns.

Klaviyo provides greater flexibility in customizing email campaigns that you can send to your customers by leveraging the customer events that occur during a checkout session. This information can also be used to track your subscribers. See below for the events tracked and an example of how this information can be leveraged for an abandoned cart campaign.

Abandoned Cart Setup

  1. Create an abandoned cart flow using the Started Checkout trigger. The Started Checkout event will contain a cart token
  2. Create an abandoned cart email template. For this setup to work, you will need to ensure your email template contains the cart token with your Shopify domain:
    https:// << SHOPIFY DOMAIN >> /cart?bold-cart-token={{ event.cart_token }}

This will bring your customer back to the cart page where they can resume their order session.

 Alert

Cashier is required for the abandoned checkout feature. With Bold Cashier installed, you can use Klaviyo to send automated abandoned cart emails to your customers. This will bring your customers back to the checkout page, rather than the cart page.

Cashier will also track Bold Subscriptions V1 information and cancellations.

Limitations on abandoned cart:

  • Shopify cart tokens expire in 14 days. If your customer does not return to their cart within 14 days, they will no longer have access to their abandoned cart.
  • Subscriptions that are not added to the cart will not work with abandoned carts. This is relevant to merchants who are using Single Product cart mode, pre-paid subscriptions, Buy Buttons or Build-a-box. These types of subscriptions will skip the cart page and go directly to the checkout.

For more information on setting up your abandoned cart flow, please visit Klaviyo's guide on creating an abandoned cart flow, as well as Google Analytics, AutoComplete & Advanced Tracking Scripts.

Functionality

These are the main events that will track within Klaviyo:

  • The cancelled subscription event is the one used to track cancellations.
  • The unsubscribe event tracks customers who remove themselves from thee marketing emails or newsletters.
  • Klaviyo will only track cancellations made via the stores Manage Subscription Page. This includes the customer email, and "reason for cancelling" if this feature is set up within the Cancellation Management of Bold Subscriptions V1.

Please contact Klaviyo for more information on creating segments or for looking over the logic for these events.

  1. From the Shopify admin, select Apps.
  2. Select Recurring Order & Subscription by Bold.
  3. Select Integrations, then View all Integrations.

Note: This API Key is case sensitive, and cannot be input with any extra spaces.

  6. Select Save.

Once you have added the API Key to Bold Subscriptions V1, please log in to Klaviyo to ensure that it was successful. Bold Subscriptions will not appear under Enabled Integrations in Klaviyo.

Custom Scripts

Custom scripts will only be run when an order is placed through the Checkout. Scripts are not able to run for specific events like missed payments or paused / cancelled memberships.

Advanced Tracking Scripts are only able to run on the Thank You Page of the Subscriptions checkout.

The Littledata and Subscriptions V1 integration allows you to track subscriptions that are processed via Shopify with Google Analytics. This integration leverages the Shopify to Google Analytics or Shopify to Segment connections.

With this integration you will be able to:

  • Track recurring orders filtered by transaction affiliation.
  • See first-time orders differentiated from one-time orders.

Once set up, Littledata will create default views within the Google Analytics admin so that your subscription data can be tracked. You will also have the option to set custom views and filters.

 Alert

If you are using Cashier as your checkout, then please visit our integration for Google Analytics & Bold Cashier.

Pricing

Littledata offers different pricing plans based on your monthly sessions and number of orders. They offer a 14 day free trial as well as additional discounts for those who pay annually. Marketing Integrations

These apps and integrations were built to help your store with marketing, including creating unique ads and promoting your subscription products.

Shoelace integrates with Bold Subscriptions V1 to allow you to create targeted ads and gather data from live reporting. This helps with promoting your subscription products to drive repeat purchases from your past customers.

If a customer purchases a non-subscription item on your store, they will be offered branded ads to encourage upgrading to a subscription purchase on their next order. This, however, excludes customers who have already purchased a subscription in the past.

Note: You must have the Shoelace app, Facebook Pixel, and Bold Subscriptions installed in order to use this integration.

  1. Install the Shoelace Shopify app.
  2. Complete the Integration with Facebook Pixel.

Note: Ensure you use the same Facebook Pixel account in the Shoelace app.

  3. Enable the Subscriptions integration with Shoelace. For further assistance with this, please email their team directly at hello@shoelace.com
  4. Within the Bold Subscriptions V1 app, select Integrations, then View All Integrations.
  5. Select Shoelace.
  6. Select Enable.
  7. Select Save.

ReferralCandy helps grow your business by incentivizing referrals.

You can create advocates for your store and provide them with a unique link that they can send out to whoever they like. If someone purchases an item through the referral link, they will earn points through ReferralCandy. These rewards are created as a discount code through Bold Subscriptions V1, and are offered to your customers via ReferralCandy.

Please visit ReferralCandy for more information.

Setup the Third Party Integration in ReferralCandy

This integration needs to be enabled through your ReferralCandy account first.

To enable this integration, follow the steps below.

  1. Sign up for ReferralCandy.
  2. Select Integration.
  3. Select Third Party Integrations.
  4. Select Recurring Orders by Bold.

In order for the post-purchase pop-up to track, the following script will also need to be added into Bold Subscriptions' Advanced Tracking Scripts:

<div
  id="refcandy-lollipop"
data-id="enter your Referral Candy API access ID here"
  data-fname='[first_name]'
  data-lname='[last_name]'
  data-email='[customer_email]'
  data-accepts-marketing='[accepts_marketing]'
></div>
<script>!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.defer=true;js.src="//portal.referralcandy.com/assets/widgets/refcandy-lollipop.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","refcandy-lollipop-js");</script>

  6. Select Integrations, then View all Integrations.
  7. Select ReferralCandy.
  8. Enter the required information, and Save.
  9. Within Bold Subscriptions V1, select Settings, then General.
  10. Scroll down to Customers can Change their Discount Codes, and select Enable.

    Enable_Discount_Codes

  11. Select Save.

Features

With this integration, your customers are rewarded with discounts via ReferralCandy.

Discount codes created in Bold Subscriptions V1 can still be offered to your customers, but we recommend creating single-use codes for your advocates, and multi-use codes for your referrals.

Prepaid subscribers are not able to apply their own discount codes mid-subscription.

Single Use Discount Codes

With how ReferralCandy is currently built, we recommend creating one-time use discounts for your advocates that are sharing the referral links.

You will create the discount codes you would like to offer for your advocates first, then once these codes are created, they will be exported and copied into ReferralCandy to ensure that they are linked.

To create single use discount codes, please follow these steps:

  1. Create a bulk discount code in Bold Subscriptions V1.
  2. Under Limit's and Restrictions, select Limit the number of orders this discount code will be applied to for each customer checkbox to enable it. Then enter 1 in the box next to this line.
  3. Within the Discount Code page, select the number used under Uses to view.
    Number_of_Uses_Discount
  4. Within ReferralCandy, select Referral Rewards, then Edit.
  5. Create your Referral Discount here.

For more information on creating a ReferralCandy reward, please visit Best Practices When Setting Up a Reward.

Multi-Use Discount Codes

Creating the discount code in this configuration will ensure that Friends only get a discount on their initial subscription order, and they can only use their referral discount once. That way this is beneficial for first-time subscribers only.

To create a multi-use discount code, please follow the steps below.

  1. Create a Standard Discount Code.
  2. Enter the % or $ that you would like to apply to referrals for their first subscription orders.
    Create_a_New_Discount_Code
  3. Under Limits and Restrictions, select the Limit the number of orders this discount code will be applied to for each customer check box to enable it. Enter a limit of 1 in the box next to this line.
  4. Under Limits and Restrictions, select the Only valid on initial subscription order in the checkout, not existing subscriptions check box.
  5. Log in to ReferralCandy.
  6. Select Edit Referral Program.
  7. Select Friend Offer.
  8. Enter the discount code.

  • Integrate with other review platforms like Trustpilot.
  • Offer customer surveys and collect customer and product attributes.
  • Create shoppable user generated content (UGC) galleries with Instagram.

When integrated with Subscriptions V1, you can trigger review requests when recurring orders generate, show reviews as Verified Subscriber, and add a Subscribe button to your UGC widget.

For the full setup steps, functionality, and more, please visit Reviews.io & Subscription V1 Integration.

Loyalty Points by Shop Circle allows you to offer both points and rewards to your customers based on their purchases, referrals, and social media interactions on your store. This can be used to bring new customers in to your store, create bonus point events to encourage new orders, and offer discounts for loyalty.

When using Loyalty Points with Bold Subscriptions V1, your customers will be able to earn points on both subscription purchases and one-time purchases.

Customers can only use points for regular, one-time purchase products. It is not possible for customers to use points towards the purchase of a subscription product.

If you offer customizable products on your store, then you may be interested in Product Options by Shop Circle. The premium version is a fantastic way to offer a unique product and will help with avoiding Shopify's 100 variant limit.

Product Options creates line properties for your customer's personalized selections that appear within the Bold Subscriptions V1 orders made on your store. This information appears for your customers within both the Bold Subscription V1 order, and the Manage Subscription Page.

Using Product Options, you can display additional information about your products such as size, colour, and even questions about your customers so you can customize their subscription experience.

Subscription Product Options Example

Setup

  1. From the Shopify admin, select Apps.
  2. Select Bold Subscriptions V1.
  3. Select Settings, then Display Settings.
  4. Select Checkout Page.
  5. Ensure that Enable line Item Properties Display is enabled on your store.
  6. Select Save.

Once this setting is enabled on your store, your customers will be able to review their customized product within the Manage Subscriptions page. You will also be able to view this from both the orders section of the Shopify admin and the Subscriptions app admin.

Use the Add to Existing Subscription Feature

The add to existing subscription feature allows your customers to add new products into their existing subscription(s) right from the product page. This will appear as a button around your add to cart button.

In order to see this on a product page, your customers must be logged into a Shopify customer account on your storefront.

Customers who purchase a subscription with Product Options are not able to edit their options after the order's been placed. The only way these orders can be adjusted is by manually adding a new subscription product to your customer's order and then deleting the previous one. This ensures that all of your customer's subscription information stays the same.

Limitations

  • Bold Subscriptions V1's integration with Product Options by Shop Circle is not compatible with build-a-box, custom, or prepaid subscriptions. When using this integration, the only subscription types that can be used are standard and convertible subscriptions.
  • When using the Add Products feature on your Manage Subscriptions Page, your customers will not be prompted to add product customizations, as there is no form to add the options' information.
  • Subscriptions with priced options are included in the discount that's offered for subscribing. (For example, if a product is $50.00 with $50.00 of add-ons, the discount would apply to the full $100.00)
  • Bold Subscriptions V1's Product Swap feature is not compatible with Product Options by Shop Circle. It is highly recommended disabling the feature when using the two together.

Zapier gives you the flexibility to create your own custom webhooks and apply them to Bold Subscriptions V1. More information on Subscriptions' custom flow and how to create these webhooks can be found on our Developers Portal.

Shipping & Delivery

Store Pickup & Local Delivery by Amai allows you to offer additional options to your customers who may wish to pick up their orders. This is completed by changing the order's address to your pickup location address.

Store pickup also works with both the multiple product cart mode and recurring cart cart modes of Bold Subscriptions V1.

There is no Liquid installation required to use this integration.

Features

This integration shows the summary of pickup and delivery options to your customers on the cart page.

If pickup is selected, your customers will not have to enter a shipping address, but the form will still require your customers to enter a valid zip code, pickup location, and /or pickup time before the order can be completed.

All pickup order information will be located in the Orders section of the Shopify admin.

Your customers will still receive all the freedom of changing their subscriptions within the Manage Subscriptions Page. The shipping address (pickup location) can also be adjusted.

Known Limitations

Store Pickup & Local Delivery by Amai features are not currently compatible with single product cart mode, prepaid subscriptions, or build-a-box subscriptions.

The initial pickup location that's selected for your customer's subscription will carry over to all subsequent orders. The Amai widget will only allow one location to be selected, but your customers can decide to change the locations within the Manage Subscription Page on their next order(s).

When either you or a customer are making certain changes (for example, adding products) to an existing subscription, Bold Subscriptions V1 may check for the best applicable shipping rate for future orders. This can cause potential issues with pickup fees being overwritten by other rates. You can change how a shipping rate is chosen on the General Settings page.

Adding products to an existing subscription will not display Amai's shipping rates. Only Shopify's shipping rates will be shown.

Zapiet's Store Pickup + Delivery allows you to offer additional options to your customers who may wish to pick up their orders. This is completed by changing the order's address to your pickup location address.

Note: This integration does not work after the initial subscription order. Every subsequent order after the first will be unable to use the Zapiet order pick-up rates.

Integration Features

With this integration, any Store Pickup + Delivery options that are created via Zapiet will be viewable within the Bold Subscriptions V1 checkout. This will ensure that your physical stores' address will become the shipping address for the order once it is generated.

A summary of pickup locations will be shown to your customers in the recurring checkout. It will not prompt them to enter their own shipping address, but instead to select one of your store's addresses.

Bold Subscription V1 will respect all of Zapiet's form requirements. Your customers will still be required to input their zip code, pickup location and / or pickup time before proceeding to the checkout. All of this information will appear within the Shopify order admin of your store.

This integration will remove the Use same billing address as shipping address option from the recurring checkout if your customer selects pickup.

Known Limitations

Your customers will be able to choose all of their preferred shipping, pickup and delivery options through the Zapiet widget on their initial order, but will not be able to have the same options for subsequent subscription orders.

When your customers make adjustments on the Manage Subscription Page, they not be given an option to select another shipping address from Store Pickup + Delivery by Zapiet.

Page Builder Apps

Bold Subscriptions does not have an official integration with any third party page builder app at this time. Most third party apps require additional liquid code in order for Bold Subscriptions to work properly.
