Bold Discounts Admin Price Sync Functionality FAQs

This guide answers several frequently asked questions in regards to functionality with the admin price sync feature with Bold Discounts. Select a question below to view the answer.

 


 

Yes, discount codes can be used to offer stackable discounts for products that are already receiving a discount via Bold Discounts. 

 Alert

Discount codes can only be used in the Shopify checkout page. This means that in order for discount codes to be usable for products being discounted via Bold Discounts, the admin sync needs to be completed on the discount group that the product is being discounted from in Bold Discounts.

 Pro Tip

If admin price sync is enabled, we recommend removing the following span codes from within your theme's liquid code:

<span class="bold-compare-at-price" data-product-id="{{product.id}}">{{price}}</span>

Removing these lines of code will prevent a duplicate price appearing for products being discounted via Bold Discounts on your storefront.

If you installed Bold Discounts on or after October 7th, 2020, the admin price sync feature must be enabled by our Merchant Success team first before it can be activated on your end. 

Once the feature has been enabled by our Merchant Success team (or if you installed Bold Discounts before October 7th, 2020), you can activate the feature within Bold Discounts by selecting On located in the Admin Price Sync tab on the Settings page.

 Caution

It is recommended to turn off all discount groups in Bold Discounts first before enabling admin price sync. Once admin price sync has been enabled, the discount groups can be re-enabled on the Manage Discounts page.

Admin Price Sync - Enable

When admin price sync has been enabled, products that are apart of active discount groups will be discounted in your Shopify admin. The discounts being applied from admin price sync can take approximately 1 hour per 1000 variants to apply the discounts to your products in the Shopify admin. While the discounts via admin price sync are syncing for your discount groups, your products will still be discounted through a backend API discount.

When a discount group is syncing, two different syncs will be visible on each discount group. Storefront syncing represents the backend API discount, and Admin syncing represents the storefront discounts to your product prices.

Syncing Statuses

Once the product price has been updated to reflect the discount set within the discount group, the discounted product price will be used on the storefront rather than the backend API discount.

Admin price sync can be disabled within Bold Discounts by selecting Off under the Admin Price Sync tab in the Settings page.

 Caution

It is recommended to turn off all discount groups and wait for the sync to complete in Bold Discounts before disabling admin price sync. Once admin price sync has been disabled, the discount groups can be re-enabled on the Manage Discounts page.

Admin Price Sync - Disable

Yes, admin price sync is compatible with third party apps that utilize price rules to change product prices or use a draft order to apply discounts on the checkout page.

 Caution

Please ensure that the admin sync status on each discount group has been completed before applying discounts from another third party pricing app. If the admin price status is still syncing on your discount groups, we recommend waiting for the sync to be completed first (the sync can take approximately 1 hour per 1000 variants).

Admin price sync is very similar to the functionality that Version 1 of Bold Discounts offers, as both features allow you to apply discounts to products to the product price field set in your Shopify admin based on the discount set within Bold Discounts. 

When using admin price sync with Bold Discounts, discounts will apply to your products via a backend API discount while the admin price sync is still syncing on your products. This allows for minimal downtime on your storefront in-between discount syncs and in result, discounts will reflect on your storefront a lot quicker.

The main purpose of enabling admin price sync is to allow the product prices in your Shopify admin to reflect the discount that is set in discounts groups created within Bold Discounts.

If you are using sales channels such as Shopify POS, Facebook or Instagram, these sales channels use the product price set within your Shopify admin to determine the price of the product on those sales channels. Enabling admin price sync allows the discounts that are being generated from Bold Discounts to also reflect on these other sales channels, allowing the same price to reflect on all of your sales channels.

If the discounts are reflecting on the product page in your Shopify admin but not carrying the discount to another sales channel, please reach out to Shopify Support for further assistance.

The checkout that is used for Bold Discounts depends on whether or not the admin price sync is enabled and if the sync has been completed for the admin price sync. 

Please see the table below to determine which checkout page will be used in certain scenarios when a product being discounted via Bold Discounts is present in the checkout page:

Discount group statuses can be determined on the homepage of the Bold Discounts admin under each discount group:

Discount Group Statuses

It is not recommended to delete Bold Discounts while the discount groups are still on. This will cause your sale to remain active on the storefront. Before deleting the app, all discount groups should be turned off and the sync allowed to fully complete.

If you have deleted the Bold Discounts without turning off the active discount groups, you will need to reinstall the app and either:

  1. Turn off the active discounts groups and wait for the sync to fully complete. 
  2. Create a sale for 0% off for the affected products.
