Bold Checkout allows you to use price-based, weight-based, or carrier-calculated rates when added directly into the app.
When using Bold Checkout, you must have at least one shipping zone. These zones determine which regions your customers can make orders from and how much it costs to ship your product(s) to them.
If you're ready to proceed with setting up the Shipping process on your store, please visit Creating Shipping Zones in Bold Checkout for more information.
Price-Based Shipping Rates
With Bold Checkout, you can offer price-based shipping rates to your customers.
Creating a price-based rate for shipping is ideal for offering shipping discounts to customers who spend more in your store.
Example
Offering a free shipping incentive to your customers who spend $50 or more.
When creating a free shipping rate, we recommend setting it to a rate of $0 with no maximum value. You can then select the Free shipping option.
To setup price-based rates, please follow the steps below.
- From within the Bold Checkout admin, select Shipping, then Shipping Zones.
- Select Create Zone.
- Enter a zone name and select your countries.
- Under Price-based rates, select Add Rate.
- Adjust your rate settings accordingly.
- Select Save.
Weight-Based Shipping Rates
If the weight attached to your store's products vary significantly, you may want to offer weight-based shipping rates to your customers.
To create weight-based rates within Bold Checkout, please follow the steps below.
- From within the Bold Checkout admin, select Shipping, then Shipping Zones.
- Select Create Zone.
- Enter a zone name and select your countries.
- Under Weight-based rates, select Add Rate.
- Adjust your rate settings accordingly.
- Select Save.
Add Custom Carrier Credentials
Bold Checkout gives you the ability to use carrier credentials. Your customers will then receive their shipping rates directly from your preferred provider.
To offer custom carrier shipping rates to your customers, please follow the steps below.
- From within the Bold Checkout admin, select Shipping, then Custom Carriers.
- Select Setup Custom Carrier.
- Name your credential set and select your provider.
Note: Give this a name that you can distinguish from the Standard Carrier name. IE. "FedEx Custom". You will need to differentiate it from the Standard Carrier Rates when you select it in the Shipping Zone section.
- Fill out the credentials.
Note: These credentials can be found within your account with this provider.
- Select Save.
- To apply these rates, follow the steps in our article Create Shipping Zones in Bold Checkout to add your Custom Carrier rates.
Troubleshooting
If you experience issues regarding your shipping rates, please select an option below to view more information.
When using price-based and weight-based shipping rates, Bold Checkout treats the higher number in the range as non-inclusive, which means that the higher number is not included in the range.
Example 1: The following example is incorrect.
Name | Lower limit | Higher limit | Price |
---|---|---|---|
Shipping Rate 1 | 0kg | 10kg | $10.00 |
Shipping Rate 2 | 10.01kg | 20kg | $15.00 |
This is because the higher limit is non-inclusive. If an order has a weight of 10kg, it will not be counted in Shipping Rate 1 as there won't be an applicable shipping rate for the order.
Example 2:
The following example is correct.
Name | Lower limit | Higher limit | Price |
---|---|---|---|
Shipping Rate 1 | 0kg | 10kg | $10.00 |
Shipping Rate 2 | 10kg | 20kg | $15.00 |
This example shows that the higher limit of Shipping Rate 1 is the same as the lower limit of Shipping Rate 2. If an order has a weight of 10kg, it will be included in Shipping Rate 2. This means that there are no gaps in the shipping rates.
