Upgrade to Bold Plugin V3

Bold Plugin V3 is now available for WooCommerce. Upgrading to the new version of Bold Plugin will allow you to access new features such as One-Click Checkout as well as give you the ability to manage the orders created by Bold Checkout and Bold Subscriptions from right within your WooCommerce admin.

This article will show you how to upgrade to the newest version of Bold Plugin as well as how to complete the optional steps to activate these new features.

Before upgrading on your live store, it is recommended to backup your store database and files, and test the upgrade in a development environment.

 


 

In order to use Bold Plugin V3, you will need to ensure your store meets the following requirements:

  • Minimum PHP version 7.4
  • Minimum WordPress version 5.4.0
  • Minimum WooCommerce version 4.5.3

 


 

You can upgrade to Bold Plugin V3 in two ways: using the WordPress admin, or using files. Both methods are described below.

 


 

Method 1: Upgrade from the WordPress admin

  1. Log in to WordPress as the admin.
  2. Select Plugins from the left navigation.
  3. Navigate to Bold and select update now

  4. Wait for the update to complete.

 


 

Method 2: Upgrade using files

  1. Download Bold Plugin V3 from the plugin's site.

    Note: To download the latest release of the Bold Plugin, please contact our Sales department to gain access to the files on the plugin site. If you have the password from the previous version download, this will work as well.

  2. Extract the files from the zip.
  3. Delete the existing plugin from the web server, found at the following path: /wp-content/plugings/bold-wp-plugin.
  4. Upload the plugin files on the same path.
  5. Log in to WordPress as the admin.
  6. From the left menu, navigate to Plugins > Installed Plugins.
  7. Check that the Bold Plugin is Version 3 or later.

 


 

  1. Log in to WordPress as the admin.
  2. From the left menu, navigate to WooCommerce > Bold.
  3. Under Checkout, select Open.
  4. On the left menu of the Checkout app, select Settings > General Settings.
  5. Scroll down to Public order ID and move the toggle to the right to enable it.

  6. Select Save.
  1. Navigate to WooCommerce > Settings > Integration > Bold.
  2. Select the API Access Tokens link to create new access tokens.

  3. In the top right, select Create API access token.
  4. Give the token a name.
  5. Set all the scopes to Read & Write with the exception of Payments being set to Write, and Shop being set to Read.

  6. Select Create.
  7. Copy the access tokens back over to the plugins setting page in WordPress.
  8. In the Orders/Subscriptions Management section select the checkbox to Enable Orders/Subscriptions Management.
  9. Select Save changes.

 


 

  1. Navigate to WooCommerce > Settings > Integration > Bold.
  2. In the One-Click Checkout, select the checkboxes to Enable One-Click Checkout and Enable One-Click Checkout Summary.

  3. Select Save changes.
