While using Subscriptions for Shopify Checkout, there may be times when you notice things aren't behaving as expected. While some issues can be corrected quickly through the in-app settings, other issues may be related to the installation.
This article addresses some common issues that you may come across and outlines some steps that you can take to resolve them.
Can I use one Subscriptions account across two of my Shopify stores?
No, Bold Subscriptions must be downloaded separately for each store. One account will not work across two stores.
I'm experiencing errors when trying to create a draft order on my store
It is currently a limitation of Shopify that draft orders are unable to work with subscription purchases on your store. For more information on Shopify requirements and eligibility, please visit the Setting up subscriptions article on the Shopify Help Center or reach out to Shopify's support.
My subscription policy link leads to 404 page
If you have not set up your subscription cancellation policy in Shopify and are using the App Widget Block on a Shopify 2.0 theme, your customers will be directed to a 404 error page.
For more information on how to set this up, please visit Subscription Policies for Subscriptions for Shopify Checkout.
Subscription orders generated although they were sold out
Shopify does not check for inventory on recurring orders at this time. If your product is out of stock, subscription orders will continue to generate.
The subscription widget is not appearing on my product page
If a subscription widget is not appearing on the storefront, this can be the result of one of the following:
- The subscription group is not active. In order for the subscription widget to appear on the product page, the subscription group has to be set to the right position with the checkmark. Please visit Create a Standard Subscription Group for steps on activating a subscription group in Bold Subscriptions.
- Your payment gateway is not connected. In order for the subscriptions widget to appear on the product page, your store must use Shopify Payments, PayPal Express, or Authorize.net to process your customer's payments. Please visit Shopify Payments for more information on setting up and configuring Shopify Payments on your store.
- Incomplete installation. Bold Subscriptions must be installed on your theme in order to work properly. How this works depends on your theme. For more information, please visit one of the following articles to complete your installation:
A customer was able to add an out of stock product to their subscription
At this time, the customer portal setting: Customer can add products to their existing subscriptions and the Express Add-Ons Widget allow your customers to add any product regardless of inventory. Our team is currently working to resolve this limitation in the near future.
The price of my customer's subscription is incorrect
Any updates you make to a product's price in the Shopify admin does not affect the price for existing subscribers. Existing subscribers will continue to receive product at the price they originally signed up for.
You can update the prices for your existing subscribers using the Bulk Update tool. For detailed instructions, please visit Bulk Price Updates in Subscriptions for Shopify Checkout.
