QuickBooks Sync allows you to import your inventory from QuickBooks Online to your Shopify store.

This article explains what happens when you import your inventory and shows you how to perform an import.

Functionality

When importing your inventory from QuickBooks Online to Shopify, the inventory levels on all active mapped products in your Shopify store are updated to match the inventory levels set in your QuickBooks Online account.

Example

If a product in QuickBooks Online has a quantity of 55 and is mapped to a product in Shopify with a quantity of 20, when an inventory import is performed, the quantity for that product will be updated to 55 in Shopify as well.

Products set to inactive in QuickBooks Online are not included in the import.

Important considerations

Products in Shopify that are not set to track inventory will be updated to track inventory if the corresponding mapped product in QuickBooks Online contains inventory and an import is executed.

Setup

  1. From your Shopify admin, open QuickBooks Sync.
  2. From the QuickBooks Sync home page, scroll down to the Import Inventory Levels from QuickBooks Online Products section.
  3. Click Import Inventory.

    Import Inventory button

  4. Click Import Inventory again.

    Import Inventory button

Once the above steps are completed, QuickBooks Sync begins importing your inventory for mapped products. The amount of time it takes depends on the amount of products with inventory that are being updated. A green progress bar is displayed to let you know the status of your import.
