rePete Compliance

rePete is built with compliance guardrails to help your store meet common SMS and email regulations. That said, it is ultimately the merchant's responsibility to understand and comply with the specific regulations that apply to the regions you serve.

This article outlines the compliance measures rePete has in place for SMS and email communications.

SMS compliance

Consent

rePete requires explicit SMS marketing consent before sending messages to any customer. Consent is collected through your Shopify store. rePete syncs with each customer's marketing consent status in Shopify to ensure it is always using the most up-to-date information.

Quiet hours and holidays

rePete observes quiet hours and will not send SMS messages on major holidays.

Restricted product categories

rePete does not allow SMS messaging for stores that sell restricted items, including alcohol, tobacco, vapes, cannabis, sex-related products, and similar categories. This is detected automatically when you connect your store.

If you believe your store has been incorrectly flagged, please contact support by clicking the chat icon.

Opt-out instructions

Every SMS sent by rePete includes clear opt-out instructions so customers can unsubscribe at any time.

CASL (Canadian customers)

For customers with Canadian phone numbers, rePete includes merchant contact information (support email, phone number, and website) in each message in the form of a short link, as required by CASL. This information is pulled automatically from your Shopify profile.

Welcome SMS (US customers)

rePete sends a default welcome SMS to new customers with US phone numbers who have purchased a rePete product and opted in to SMS marketing. This message is sent immediately after the customer's first qualifying purchase and is designed to meet CTIA requirements.

If you already have a welcome SMS set up through a third-party marketing tool, you can disable rePete's default welcome SMS to avoid sending duplicate messages.

To manage your welcome SMS setting:

  1. In the rePete admin, go to Settings and select the General tab.

  2. Scroll down to the SMS Compliance section.

  3. Choose to enable rePete's default welcome SMS, or acknowledge that you will manage welcome messaging through your own tool.

Suggested opt-in language

rePete provides suggested SMS opt-in language during onboarding that you can use on your storefront. This language is designed to meet common requirements, including program description, message frequency, and a note that message and data rates may apply.

You can access this suggested language at any time by going to Settings > General and scrolling to the SMS Compliance section.

Email compliance

One-click unsubscribe

Every email sent by rePete includes a one-click unsubscribe option so customers can opt out at any time.

Physical address in email footer

rePete includes your store's physical address in the footer of all outgoing emails, as required by email regulations such as CAN-SPAM.

This address is pulled from your Shopify profile by default. If you need to use a different address, you can edit it in the rePete admin.

To edit your store address:

  1. In the rePete admin, go to Settings and select the Template styling tab.

  2. Under the Email nudge type, scroll down to the Store address section.

  3. Click the pen icon to edit the address.
