Import & Export Prices in Custom Pricing

Custom Pricing provides you with the flexibility to bulk import your Detailed Pricing rules using a CSV file. This article shows you how to set up your Detailed Pricing in a spreadsheet, and then upload it to Custom Pricing.

Requirements

  • All products must have a SKU entered before beginning.

  • You must be on the Complete plan or higher to import Detailed Pricing.

Important considerations

Uploading a CSV file creates a queue in Custom Pricing to synchronize prices for each line in the CSV file. Any other updates made in Custom Pricing after uploading a CSV file will be added to the end of the queue and will complete in the order it was actioned. Updates can take significantly longer to complete with very large CSV files.

Setup

Step 1: Export and prepare your spreadsheet

  1. In Custom Pricing, navigate to Import/Export.

  2. Click Export.

  3. Once the export is ready, click Download File.

  4. Open the CSV file in a spreadsheet program like Excel or Google Sheets.

  5. In the Price Type column, choose how your discounts will be calculated for each product:

    • Use % for a percentage discount.

    • Use - for a fixed amount off the original price.

    • Use $ for a fixed price (the new, lower price).

Note: Fixed prices that are higher than the original price will be ignored.

Note: If your Price Type is $ enter the new (lower) fixed price. If it’s %, enter the percentage to be discounted. If it’s -, enter the amount to be discounted.

Step 3: Finalize and import your file into Custom Pricing

  2. In Custom Pricing, go to Import/Export.

  3. Click Choose File.

    Select Choose File

  4. Select the CSV file and click Open.

  5. Click Import.

  6. In the preview screen, ensure the correct attribute is selected for each column.

Note: If the preview has any empty columns, mark these columns as -Do Not Import-.

    Check attributes

  7. Click Upload.

Note: A process begins to synchronize the new pricing. This can take some time, especially for large files. Pricing syncs at about 1000 variants per hour.

Remove discounts

You can remove discounts from your products by exporting them from Custom Pricing, deleting the discount values associated with your tags or Quantity Breaks in your preferred spreadsheet program, and then re-importing the updated CSV file back into Custom Pricing.
